Ahh, it's unfortunate you guys have this on a Monday- it's my long day at school. I start at 10am, and end at 7:20 pm!

I'm really impatient to get the DVD's…I worry that they wont be good, but then I wonder if I just want them to have them like a collection? I don't know! I just know I want them! Hehe.

I'll be interested to see what it's like, though, and what people think of them.

Honestly, I don't care if someone says it's a "stripper pole" about my pole. So what? They know it by going to strip clubs, because they're sad and lonely and want to look at naked people.

It's like calling a Katana a "samurai sword." It's not a sword only used by samurai, it's not named that, but that's what people call it because that's how they know it.

That guy was clearly having his time of the month, and was stuck in his own little world where he could imagine that you were, actually, stripping in your room.

And yes, there is much more history to pole dance than just the strip club…but not in THIS country (or pair of countries 😉 ), so all most people have to go on is the world of the strip club. It's like saying a Burlesque dancer is a stripper…she IS, because she's on stage, taking her clothes off, but it's quite different than a stripper.

Don't even give that guy the time of day. If he's so lonely that he has to go to a strip club, and he's seen it all so many times that he recognizes the moves they can do (and also, if the club he goes to has girls that can do a shouldermount, that's pretty impressive!), then clearly he has too much time, and not enough girls in his life. FOR A REASON.

Polecat88- I would love to have a pole/flexy jam! This weekend doesn't really work for me either, so that's okay 😉 I've never actually done one, to be honest, so I guess I wouldn't really know what to do! But I'm willing to give it a go!

Hehe, Veena, yeah…there aren't that many people on G+ yet, but it is getting better. I really like it, because I really find Google to be a very nice company.

I highly recommend Google+ if you haven't tried it yet! It's still in it's "Beta" stage, which means they're still working out the bugs, but they want people to join it so those people can FIND the bugs! I have like, over 100 invites, so if anyone wants to try it out, I can try to figure out how to make them go!

I'm seriously against Facebook, and have been for a while. I would just leave it, but a lot of my family from England are on there, and I'd rather not lose contact with them.

Google+ hasn't got those incessant games, their interface is way easy to use, and it connects into things like Youtube and Gmail, so you can get it all together.

And yes, I hate the new Facebook layout. Why does Facecrack get to decide which of my friends are "top stories" and which are not?

@polediva55- Lights spins like, Fireman, and front and back leg hook spins. That's usually about it. Oh, and the "half spin" (That's what Veena calls it, I think of it as a transitional move), and just a lot of bodywaves, fun with steps, poses, pirouettes. Nothing where I'm lifting with only my arms, and I always start off slow. If the oldschool way works for you, though, keep on it!

And yeah…I find the same thing! I tried to do strength training at the beginning after warming up, because it was my least favourite thing to do…and after that, I found I had a lot less strength to do moves I wanted to work on! So, I moved it a little later. I don't dislike it as much anymore 😉

I'm gonna take some melatonin tonight and get some really good sleep, though, and then I'll be back on the pole probably tomorrow! 🙂

    Hehe, thank you Veena https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

With hope and care, perhaps we'll see me up on the pole and doing some amazing things soon! I'm determined, but also going at this in a much more…er, controlled way https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif Perhaps I won't burn out this time, and I'll be able to motivate myself better!

    Sounds good…

I hate to ask, but…er, what IS the difference between stretching and flexibility training? I guess the training is pushing a little father and trying to bring the muscle longer, whereas stretching is less intense?

Seriously, I wish I could afford your lessons. Maybe I'll have to play with my money, see if I can afford even one month! Even that is helpful 😉

    Hey polediva55!

While I haven't quite gotten back to dancing yet (a lack of sleep and horrible girly times being strong contributors!) I figured I would tell you what seems to work for me thus far.

Generally, I warm up with a little bit of light dancing- that is, no really hard spins, and no climbing, just playing around on the pole a bit. Then I start getting into the tougher stuff, trying to get used to climbing, being upside down (and my extremely ungraceful dismount!), and tougher spins like the Carouselle, and possibly the Tuck spin if I'm feeling masochistic.

I save the strength training for last because I tend to push myself with it, and will end up getting very tired and unable to do my tougher dance stuff if I do the strength training first. So, that's after dancing.

And then, lastly, I get into stretching and trying to increase my flexibility, because I'm gonna be very warm at that point, and needing of a good cool down. I may re-evaluate this, though, because it didn't seem to help much before…I might need to do my flexibility training before the harder dancing.

Jehanne, I think I see what you're saying. It's not terribly easy for me to be able to go for something when there isn't really an "end" in sight. You know, like "My goal is to win such-and-such competition," but…when you finally do that, where do you go?

I think it's difficult for me to stay motivated without the shining star at the end (Make cookes = Delicious cookies!), and with me wanting so badly to get into real aerials on the pole, and really feel like I'm progressing, I'm trying to find a way of keeping that motivation up, even when I just want to walk away for a while.

    So, thank you 🙂

*Ahem* 3 years of pole dance, off and on, and I consistently have issues. I've been working toward the basic inversion for a long time.

Granted, I haven't been able to stick to it the whole time. I generally go for about 6 months, and then have a break for a bit- not necessarily of my own choice. But, after so long, most people seem to be able to get it.

Anyways, what Veena says is totally true- Everyone progresses differently! Take heart in the process!

Getting the moves you have already, and even getting to the point where you can consider working on the Shoulder mount, is awesome!

Well, "printer issues" can be a lot of things, if it is that. I hope things get cleared up fast though!

I was thinking I would also wait to see what everyone else thinks of the videos- a great pole dancer does not a great pole dance teacher make. An true fact of most professions, actually, including Writing (as per some of my previous writing professors!).

I am really interested, though. I don't wanna wait! >_<

So, has anyone gotten a hold of these yet? The website currently says the're releasing on October 15, 2011. I'm rather interested in them, since I really like Felix's style, and would find things about artistry and such rather helpful, since I'm not really a dancer, and don't have a lot of experience expressing myself!

So I wanted to know if they're worth it 😉

Veena, this might actually get me back in my hoop. It's been a little neglected, to be honest! I actually started getting the hang of waist hooping and hip hooping, too! *sigh* It's so hard!
