Aha, that makes much more sense! I will try it out, possibly today (trying to ignore the sick!) and I'll let you guys know how it goes!

    Amy: So, I'm supposed to be scooping the belly and pushing my tailbone into the pole? I suppose that makes sense. I usually drop back as far as possible, but my ladybits don't really get bothered, so I figured I was fine Oo;

Hehe, seems like a lot of us haven't gotten the splits, and I am one of them, too!

I don't have any kind of dance, or even fitness background…mostly a video game nerd through life, and when I ended up having injured knees, it just got worse. Now, the knees are getting better, I'm more active, and those splits are gonna have to come sometime!

My hip flexors are actually pretty good, but it's my hamstrings I have to work on. They're SO tight, I could barely get my hands past my knees without rounding my back. So, since physiotherapy, I've gotten some exercises to try, and they've been doing great things! I can touch the floor! :O

So, with hope, I can extend it all the way to doing the splits, at least forwards. I'm having issues with the side splits, but they'll come in time. I'm not as dilligent as I'd like to be, but hopefully that changes soon!

Wow guys, thank you! Unfortunately I don't have a video (yet) of my failed (or flailed?) attempts, but I shall be getting some soon. I hope to do some more dancing tomorrow, if I'm not feeling so sick tomorrow! Managed to catch me a little cold, it seems!

As for the rest of the suggestions, I will certainly try them! It's good to know that the top hand SHOULD be doing a lot more than I'm pretty sure it is doing, and I will try it with just tucked legs first, as that should help me a little bit with the weight balance. I will also try putting my bottom hand off to one side, or switching which one it is, and see how that goes.

I'll keep you guys posted! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

    Hey hon,

I know how you feel…I got me a pair of F's. Generally I wear a sports bra (so if I ever post a video, they sure don't look as big as they are!) so they don't get in my way…but this also means I don't like putting pressure on them, because they don't squish anymore, they're as squished as they get!

The foor body wave, I'll be honest, I've not tried. However, for the crucifix (if you're talking the upright one!) I've tried, and the best thing I can suggest is lean away slightly when you get up there, so that when you go to the side, they come with you!

But a sports bra is always awesome. 🙂

Yeah, they kinda did indirectly call you a stripper…which I think is totally funny, because you can tell you're in your house, and not a dance club!

And yes…ouch! Looks like you fell well though, all things considered!

Hehe, Lopsi, it's good to know I'm not alone!

And yes, Phoenix, I would LOVE to see some videos of the things you've worked on! I'm okay with the caressing, if that's your thing, but I'd love to see other things, too, unless I'm not feelin' the sexy that day!

Lots of luck to both of you! I couldn't imagine…and I hope that when I have children, I can be as strong as you!

Yay! That's awesome! I just put "basic invert" on my list of moves to work on…and I know it doesn't seem like much, but after a couple years of dancing, it feels like a big thing to me!

Using a little bit of momentum is okay, I think! You're doing great!

Thanks ladies! I suppose I should have checked to see if there were any other threads on this a little closer, but sometimes it's hard to know what to search, you know?

Phoenix: I had thought of that, but when I read your suggestions for some reason a flood of excuses comes from me! I've got short hair, it seems weird if I caress while moving (for some reason??), and I suppose the hip placement and wrap around back work 😉 I'll take your suggestions into mind, because when I make excuses like that, I know it's just silliness and I should be thinking harder about it!

Momma: I feel kinda like that, very stiff and silly! I'm only just getting into taping my practices, so I will have to watch myself for that. It's good to know it becomes more…easy, as you go. Good grammar on my part. Yeah.

Veena: I'm not taking lessons for now, but I'll check out the routine on Youtube!

I'm finding that watching others is frustrating, as I'm only just getting into the aerial stuff (finally!), and mostly everyone I'm finding is doing a lot of that…so they don't do a lot of walking around, spins and such. But, I think I'm going to have to look harder!

Aaah thank you ladies! See? I told you…lots of opinions!

JBStarryEyedGirl…I dunno if you can call it "corporate america," since I'm in canada and all…but really, it's all business, and it's all stupid!

Also, a tattoo on your TOE? That must have HURT!

I really appreciate the feedback, guys! I was talking to a friend of mine on MSN about it, and she asked "Well, why not get it on your back?" and we tossed it back and forth a bit, so I think it's going to take a little bit more thought, just to see what kinds of options I want, what kinds of things I can do with it. Sometimes when there's so many options, I get a little muddled 😉

However, I think that if I do decide to go for the tattoos I want, right now, I'll go for the light jacket or long sleeved option. As I said, I'm cold all the time anyways! And, I suppose a nice suit-jacket looks professional anyways, doesn't it?

Oh, I love hearing about the excitement of the new pole! I've been tempted to get a new one and sell the old one…but we've been through so much, I don't think I could give the old pole up! Hehe!

Mechie – You make a good point 😉 I had thought about makeup, but concealer always bothers the heck out of me! I never, ever wear it. Like, ever. Even on stage doing burlesque!

Part of my fear with hips, or lower back, is the having babies thing. I like the idea of a hip tattoo, but I don't want it to get all crazy when I have babies!

I would imagine that, for me, work clothes are pretty close to my normal attire! Apparently I normally dress relatively business-casual. You know, trousers and junk like that. I can rarely wear button-up shirts, though, since I've got giant boobs!

I think, perhaps, the tattoo is going to be something I think about for a while…I thought of something that makes a lot of sense for me, and it goes on the back 😛

Wow, Cinara, you're quite thorough! 😉

Thank you for the help. Often, I find what most people are trying to tell me is to be more balanced in the way I think of myself, especially when compared to others…and, ironically, I thought I had learned that lesson when I was fighting the depression! I suppose it's something one learns over and over again, though. So, thank you!

I will take your advice on making up some little routines to see if I can improve upon what I want to get going, and delete the ones I don't like. My husband always gets mad when I write something and then delete it, but I always end up writing the same thing over again! Hehe. So, I'm okay with deleting stuff. I actually have a camera that allows me to play stuff back, so I could do that relatively easily, too.

I will take your advice, and be careful about how I think about things! 🙂

Mechie – You make a perfectly fine point, so I have another question for you: If I was not to put it somewhere in which it would be easily seen, then how would you suggest I show it off? To me, a tattoo IS something for me, but it's like…getting a painting of the Mona Lisa that cost you thousands of dollars, then putting it in a closet…you should be showing it off! So, I'm curious if you have any other ideas 😉

Lola – Good to know there's another psychologist around! Sometimes I feel…well, crazy 😛 I figured I wouldn't have much trouble with keeping a light jacket or something on, since I'm cold most of the time (especially in air conditioning!) but, well, I dunno! If other people know I have them, and they need to hire me, then their opinion would already have been tainted. I dunno…
