Naturally a man has more upper body strength and a woman has the lower body (thus our thighs that never seem to get smaller…) So don’t let that eat you. However, I hate it when the hubs one ups me! Try gripping the pole and lifting yourself off the ground without pushing up with your feet. drop your shoulders so you don’t strain your neck. pull up slowly. It’s okay if you can only get to the balls of your feet at first. Do it 5 times each day and before you know it you’ll be lifting off your feet. I also like climbing up the pole then taking my body and hanging next to the pole with a side hold. Do that on both sides. You’ll be surprised how quickly you get stronger 🙂

Got my pole put up last night and spent an hour playing. It seems like a great pole that I will really enjoy. I did have a little trouble getting it to spin just right by my home is an older one and the ceilings aren’t really level so I think that was the problem. It should be fine when I use my permanent top mount in my bedroom since that is going on a beam that we checked and it is level.

I’m so wore out today though because I had an hour class last night, then played for an hour at home, slept 5 hours and went to a strength training class for a hour. Nap time!

My favorite is a “pole crunch”. Start in a side hold with your shoulders back and down, hips are in front of the pole. Then engage your core and lift your knees to your chest controlling the motion both up and back down to the floor. Make sure you’re belly button is pulling towards your spine and try to isolate using your core to lift your legs. I usually repeat twice then switch sides and do that 5 times each side.

Boo Yah! My pole finally got here after waiting all day for the FedEx guy. Patience is not one of my virtues. Actually I was impatient because hubby had to work at 4:00 and won’t be off til 2:00AM 🙁 I told him to wake me up when he gets home so he can help me put it up. However… of course I had to unbox it and take a look. I LOVE the finish! It has a lot more grip for me than the chrome we use at the studio. I had hubby try to pull a section of the pole out of my hands before he went to work and he couldn’t. The 50mm is perfect for me as well because my thumb overlaps my fingers just a bit when I grip it. I have kinda big “man” hands. Such is life. So I’ll get it put up tonight then give it a try. Any installation tips from those of you who already have one? I’ve watched the youtube videos and will have hubby watch them with me again tonight.

I’m working on a knit pair of long leg warmers. I found a great stirrup style pattern that I’m using because I like my heels exposed to stretch for splits but I also like to keep as much of my feet covered as possible. Chronic cold hands and feet 😛 If anyone is a knitter and wants the pattern let me know. You can do them in a stockinette stitch with or without cables.

Vanellope from “Wreck-it-Ralph”. My son was Fix-it-Felix and Hubby was Ralph. We love Halloween at our house. This was a mild year for us.

This is the outline our studio owner gave us to get ready for our holiday performance. Don’t know if it will help you but it gave me a great place to start.

    Pick a song
    Spend a session brainstorming
Spend a session trying to put it together
Spend a session working out the kinks
Spend a session getting it down
Spend a session getting it right
Spend a session getting it down to mental and muscle memorization
Spend a session doing a run through

As for core. I’ve never had a C-section but I have to concentrate really hard to get my core to engage. If I take my mind off it for even a second I lose it. Even when I’m just doing an ab workout I have to really make sure I’m not using my back. Grrrr… Good luck!

Last Friday I was in "sad girl" pose when someone in class cracked a joke. I stared laughing and knew I was in trouble. I dropped to the floor like a rock! Lucky for me I landed butt first because of the pose I was in. I'm sure, at some point, I'll land on my face too.

Hubby was raised way different than me and when we first got married he wouldn't even sit on the couch without shorts and a tshirt. Now he'll run outside in his underwear to hurry and drag the garbage can out when he hears the trash truck.

Our son (almost 4) loves being naked. No problems here. As long as kids know when and where it's appropriate I don't see a problem with naked time. I usually wear at least a bra and panties around the house but we only have one bathroom so when I'm in the shower the door is open so DS can come in when needed. I also have no problem walking to my bedroom in the buff after a shower to get clothes. My mother in law would be horrified. Tee hee hee.

Yes that's it. Thank you! I was wanting to show my hubby what we learned but I didn't have anyone take a picture and I don't have a pole at home yet. Thanks again!

Yes. Same legs but chest to knees and arms wrapped around the front of your legs. Hurts like a SOB at first…

When I take my son to the park it's all I can do to not invert on "fire pole". The other moms around here don't appreciate it. Sometimes we go to the park when I know there won't be many other people there for just this reason. Isn't if funny how everything has potential once you start pole?

It doesn’t matter if you “strip” and pole for a living or just in your living room it is incredibly empowering to be strong. And everyone who has even attempted pole knows you have to be strong. Being strong and sexy is the double whammy. Pole is that double whammy. Couple that with the “no judgement” environment of the pole community and you have a sanctuary for women of all walks of life. And if you are good enough and confident enough to do it for a living that is impressive. She would know that if she had attended a couple of classes before writing the article.
