azblanco – YAY! so glad you're coming! come and say hi! I went as a beginner last year and had a blast. There really is something there for everyone.
So excited to meet all of you ladies! It's coming up so quick! Is anyone staying after the convention? A few gals and myself are staying from the Friday (start of convention) until the following Friday. Would love to hang out with everyone on and off the pole 🙂 We were thinking about checking out some studios across LA while we're there.
Lemme know lemme know! 🙂

Love the Brass Vixens team!
The instructors are fantastic when it comes to making sure that everyone has the amount of personal instruction they need.
They also make sure that everyone is working at their level regardless of beg/inter/adv status. I've been taking classes there for 1 1/2 years and have never had to share a pole. Nor have I seen anyone complain about lack of attention from instructors.
as PIglet said, the class is pretty tight and always willing to help eachother out 🙂

oh oh and Yuisa is so right! make a list of moves! sometimes when you're put on the spot you forget everything but your name 😉

That's a longgggg time slot! wow! 🙂
Good for you! Regardless if you share or not you'll end up with some great shots. He seems like a fabulous photographer.
The photoshoots at the studio i go to are 20-30 minutes per person and from those 20 minutes, our photog. passes along disks to us that contain about 115-130 shots per shoot.
I can only imagine how many awesome pics you'll get! 🙂

Dance in front of the mirror for a bit 🙂
See which moves work for you, which you move the most fluidly in and out of, the ones that show off your best angles etc.
Once you start liking what you see, move away from the mirror and just let it all go.
Watching yourself while you freestyle can be freaking awesome. For some, it's dreadful and your focus wanders to what you see yourself doing "wrong" as opposed to just dancing it out ( i am totally a product of the latter).
It'll happen for you!
Sometimes i swear it's 50% physical movement / 50% the music that you choose to freestyle to. If you know your music inside out, you're more likely to freestyle to it a bit more comfortably.

I have instructors that will give you a bit of gentle correction, but not to the point where you're in physical pain! Yikes!
Personally, i invite the correction and push, but that is only because i need a bit of help pushing my body beyond its natural barriers (ie get me into the damn splits!). If you're not going for that type of thing and are just looking for a good stretch, maybe let your instructor know that you're comfortable where you are. I doubt he/she will be offended!
As for the leg swinging, in my experience (again just a personal reflection) it really is effective for abs, however, your abdominal strength should be at a certain level before doing this. There is a big big difference in someone throwing your legs towards the ground super forcefully and someone giving a gentle push on your legs forcing you to engage your core. There is definitely room for injury in that exercise either way. There are far better exercises than this one if you're concerned about back health 🙂
Happy poling/stretching!
