Hi Anastasiakowa…I have chronic elbow/forearm/wrist issues. I get trigger point massage and trigger point acupuncture every 4 or so months to keep it in check. Anyway, without knowing what move you were doing or specifically where it hurts I can give you advise based on your inability to lift a cup or your purse:
Take at least 2-3 weeks off the pole, at least. As many times during the day as you can, wrap a heating pad around your arm from elbow to hand, Keep it on for about 20 minutes. Alternatively, use a moist, hot towel. Keep it on there until it cools. Place your elbow on a table, hand up so arm is at 90 degree angle. Keep the entire upper part of your arm flat on the table. Gently massage your arm starting at the elbow and working towards your hand using long strokes. Go as deep as feels comfortable. You do not want to feel pain. Feel free to use lotion so you don't stretch your skin uncomfortably. You should focus on 4 different areas. The "top" of the arm, the left side, and then the right side. 10 minutes each. Also, try to get the area just above and in the joint of the elbow.
If you can handle ibuprofen, this will help with any inflammation and discomfort.
If you have Veena's lessons, use her forearm and wrist stretches, but go easy for a bit.
If you are still not able to lift a cup or your purse after a few days of the above therapy, I would get it checked out.
Make sure you don't have any pain at all before continuing on the pole, and then take it easy with static spins for a while, as these seem to really aggravate those muscles. (Flexors and Extensors)
Once you are better, I would continue with the stretches, and add in some strengthening exercises.

Yup! We took it down to adjust it. I even took it down and put it back up myself a few times just to make sure I could. It is super easy, but definitely a little tougher on carpet since you can't just slide it. You have to use some muscle to compress it.

Just a note that some adjusting might be needed if you are on carpet. Instead of 1" higher than the height of the ceiling, we went up approximately another 1/8" to compensate for the give of the berber.

Hi joni. Congrats on getting into a showcase. Just doing that shows that you have lady balls! I would like to recommend L-Theanine. It is an natural supplement for mood. I used to take a RX for anxiety and I no longer have to since I've been taking it. You can get it at most health food stores or the Vitamine Shoppe. Even GNC has it. Try it out beforehand and see if it works for you.

I agree with Deesse on breaking down the move. One thing I find most helpful is understanding the mechanics of the move. Similar to how Veena shows the POC's and muscles used. I like to know where the push and pull is coming from, and what NOT to do.
I think it is good to know what type of music motivates a student. Not that you have to play everything they want, but it might be completely different than what you are planning on using. I struggle with what my instructor plays, and wish she would ask if we have any requests that she could throw on every once in a while.
Again, I agree that enthusiasm is important. I would not have continued when I started if I didn't have the awesome enthusiasm of Glitterhips. Even if my attempt was lame, she was would praise what I did and pushed me to keep trying.
Try not to spend too much time with one student. There is always one student that seems to need extra coaching, which is fine, but I find as a student that I'm not getting as much of the instructors time during that paid class. Maybe only help them one more time than the other students, or you run out of time. Offer a private to the other student. (Perhaps this is rough, but it's like the kid whose parent spends more time with one child than the other because they are more sensitive. The one who doesn't get as much time may resent it)

​For every day cleaning, I just use Isoprophyl (Rubbing) Alcohol, as I believe most do.

I am so excited about these!! My classes only teach individual moves, so combos are something that I lack when I work out and dance. Yippee!!
