I have a 45mm chrome that I love in the winter. I am planning on getting the brass xpole in the spring so I can use it in the summer. Weather is definitely the biggest issue for me! Good luck Rixi!

HI JJ. This is a very common injury when you first start to invert. The most likely cause is improper form and/or muscles not being strong enough for the move. The move should be controlled, without any kicks. Your body should be in front of and up against the pole to avoid "smacking" the pole with your ribs as you go up, which is most likely what happened. Even though you can get yourself up there, it sounds like your body wan't really ready. Super common for eager polers!
If you do not have Veena's lessons, it would be a very good investment to do so. She explains what muscles should be used, and proper technique through the entire move so you can avoid injury.
If you are having trouble beathing, then you should probably see a doctor. There are several different injuries that can occur. Bruised bones and pulled muscles are most common. At the very least, rest as much as you can, ice the area, and if your stomach can tolerate it take a anti-inflammatory. There are lots of good homeopathic treatments out there as well.
Since you are just starting, now would be a good time to get into the best habits to avoiding injury by making sure you condition your body for a move before you attempt it. I wish someone had given me that advise when I first started! If you follow Veena's lessons you will have the best chance of doing that.
Welcome to the wonderful world of pole!!

Okay, thanks! I need stiffer ones right now, but I'll probably get both so I can be versatile!

LE, did you get yours from the same place as calipolepixie? I see to recall the ones you got were the ones I was looking for.

I was in a hurry so I would beat the timer and my ankles came uncrossed. I landed on the top of my shoulders. Thank God I had my head tucked! My hands were spread to the sides like a cross, so they hit as well. I compressed my spine, but the chiroprator got everything realigned! I had photos, but stupidly deleted them. I should have had them enlarged and pasted onto my walls!

Also, make sure you cjeck the screws at the top of the A pole, and the bottom of the B pole to make sure they are not too tightly or too loosely connected to the X-Joint. I had an issue with this recently where the B pole actually twisted out of place of the X-Joint because it had loosened somehow. It actually warped the B pole and I just ordered a new one.

Amen to that!! I called XPole and they are sending a new B pole free of charge, just shipping costs. Yay!

Thanks, Chem. My pole is newer. Just got it in April so I hope the X-joint is still goodl. Yes, we rolled both sections and also used a straight edge on all sides just to be sure. My hubby works with metals a lot and makes custom pieces, so he's rather educated. We thought there might still be a warp at the bottom, but he clipped a dial indicator onto the base, shone a flashlight on it and spun it around. No change in the gap!! Yay! Somehow, I knew you would be the first to respond..You are so helpful to everyone here and I appreciate your help!! xo- Susan

Got it apart. The B pole is definiltely bent. Back in June I took my pole out to my sister's house. Her husband thought he would be cute and did a runining jump onto it when it was in spin mode. I remember cringing. It must have bent then. It is back up and will do for now, but I need to order a new B pole. Hopefully, that's all it is….Let me know if anyone thinks it might be something else.

Just finished taping pieces for my Oct Costume Challenge. This just about killed me. You'll understand once I post…I am sooo out of shape cardiovascular wise!
