IIs it possible to fall asleep on the pole?! Hahah! Cute idea!

Well, I personally do not kick ass. Yet. I started poling 10 months ago at age 47. There are lots of days that I feel like my age is holding me back, but I just don't care. I love it and I will not give it up. There are a lot of over 40 polers on this site who do kick ass. There are lots of polers over 40 who perform and are just as good, if not better than their younger counterparts. The best thing you can do is just go for it. Try not to think of the age thing (although some days that's a toughie), don't compare yourself to anyone else, and above all have fun. It is an awesome sport and the best workout you will ever do for yourself. Be your own role model!!!

Aside from what everyone else said for underlying causes, here's what I found to be helpful in the healing process:
1) Avoid NSAIDS like mkalis mentioned
2) Continue to use your Arnica. Make sure you use it several times a day.
3) Include Vitamin D cream
4) Get some packets of Emergence-C. You add it to water and drink it.
I bruise very easily as well. I had horrid bruises for the first 8 months, then my skin became more conditioned. However, since I am learning new moves there are new areas that are getting bruised! It's just part of the pole journey!

Oh, Hazelnut! I was almost going to do one from Jesus Christ Superstar, but I picked something else. You can find the music on iTunes or Spotify.

Okay, I have made my choice. I think I'll do this one at my studio, so it may be a bit! So excited!! It brings back such memories! (Oh, and it's not "Memory" from "Cats")

Oh, man. That was quite a while ago for me! Have a very Happy Birthday, Cutie!

I am glad that you were able to actually see comments and scores from the judges, because as much as you knew that your routine wasn't going as expected, you thrilled those if us watching you! I agree with Nymphdancer. Just your ability to improvise earns huge points. You kept that beautiful smile on your face the entire time. The moves that you were able to do were rock solid. I am honored to say that you were my first instructor, and I can't wait to see what the future brings!

Ninjachic, you should know by now that you are in a safe place! We all have that insecurity and I still remember posting my first video. It wasn't that long ago! I love Phantom! What a great choice! Just go for it, and if you're still not comfortable with posting it now, perhaps you will be some day..xoxo

Yes, Senrysa. The Mom came over pretty quickly and scooped her up. I felt a little weird and wondered if she thought I was a stripper… (not that there's anything wrong with that!)

You may be a pole dancer if….Last night I was at a town festival, under a tent. A little girl started walking around one of the pole supports with one hand on the pole. My husband and I both laughed and had the same thought…future poler!

Oh, yay! I have quite a few in mind. What to choose?????

Thanks Pippi. Never been a vegetarian,,I like meat too much! I do limit myself to once or twice a week though. Oh, and I love spinach. I've got 15 years of age on you, but really my age is probably now more of a negative than anything. I have always been an "everything in moderation" kind of girl. I think this is partially why my doctor cannot give me any definite answers. I'm doing everything right, it's just my wonderful body. Doc said it would be impossible to eat enough spinach to get my levels back up! Haha. So, I need to stick to supplements. I am going to give some of the suggestion here a try.
Scarlett, I will take a look at the liquid form of iron as well. I seem to do best taking all my stuff at one time of the day, all together. Otherwise, it doesn't happen.

Is anybody getting it right? For the record…I think Mary Ellyn and the team of judges at the Midwest Pole Dance Convention did a spectacular job picking the winners. My husband and I sat in the audience doing our own critiquing (as pure amateurs) and the top 3 in each divison were spot on. There were some incredibly talented performers and I would not have wanted to be in the judges (awesome) shoes.

Thanks everyone. I feel like I take so much stuff already that I still get surprised when I get these drops. I take a prescription medication that has copper, zinc and folic acid (it's for my rosacea). I take a compounded vitamin that contains B6 and B12 plus other good stuff. I take Vitamin D3, but probably not often enough. Sunshine Diva, thanks for the info about periods, but I only have about 4 periods a year…I plan on still looking for that Vitanica and will also check out the Carnation… So much good advise here…Thank You Veeners!
