Hi Sazzie. I have similar issues with that area when I stretch. For me, it's scar tissue of some sort, so my massage therapist has told me. My hamstrings are ready to go, but that little area just inside the knee and my knee area in general say, "No way"! There are a couple of things I do to help it out. If you have a foam roller, that is the best thing ever! In lieu of that, just massage the area by hand. I do this after I've already been stretching for about 10-15 minutes. Massaging the area starts out a little uncomfortable, but eases up after about 10 minutes. Take it slow and steady, and do not push the stretch if it continues to be uncomfortable. I find that it takes a good hour before I am ready to stretch deeper, but I do get there. It is going to take a while before this issue starts to lessen, and I am prepared to wait. Good luck and whatever you do, take it easy!

I haven't actually performed in a studio or on stage, but I can share this with you. My Dad is so dang proud of me. He is 80 years old. I brought my pole to an intimate family weekend and showed off what I had learned. I was wearing booty shorts and the proverbial tiny top. My Dad was so impressed. I don't even think he noticed what I was wearing. Also, I recently had a photo shoot with Don Curry. I had quite a few shots wearing a very, very tiny pretty much thong underwear and a super tiny top. Sexy as hell heels. While showing him the proofs I said, "Oh, gosh Dad. Sorry. These are a little risque" . He said, "I used to change your diapers, ya know." Personally, I think you should tell him you would love to have him there, but explain what will be worn and that it may be risque. If he is okay with that, let him share in your joy! As long as you will be comfortable, do it! It is a wonderful feeling to have your parent's acceptance of your passion. It reminds me of when I was little and both my parents came to my cello and then choral concerts.

This is probably my number one issue. I see a chiro every two weeks and get hour long massages. I stretch, I foam roll, I use Biofreeze and heating pads for temporary relief. The number one thing that helps me is my acupuncturist. In addition to needling, she uses the trigger point, myofascial release massage technique. She spends a good hour  on this area alone, then needles. I recently got back on the pole after weeks off, and I was pleasantly surprised at my own strength. It was there all along, it was just hidden under the pain. Good luck!!

I always invert from the same spot. Outside of pole I have many, many, many quirks.

Agreed! The sound is usually buffered by my music. It doesn't take away from the awesomeness at all!

I've never seen these plates, so I can't answer that. If they just cover the box, then I would say, no. They are probably not thick enough. One thing that Bunniup mentioned was placing the pole next to the hole, and not directly in the middle of the hole. So, you could get the caps for the wires, the plate to cover the electrical box, and then mount the   pole in a stud right next to the hole. That might be your best solution, although then you would still have the "hole" showing. To me, it would be worth it. P.S. – Do make sure there is a stud where your fan is before you go any further as that is a requirement.

Quirkygirl, as Jadestrada mentioned, you really need to see what it looks like in there first. As Webbie mentioned, you may be able to get the plates that fit over the electrical box. Without knowing how your fan is mounted we cannot give you any more specific instructions. Maybe once the fan is down, you can snap a pic and post it….Thanks, PDR for being so much more detailed with the precautions!

There are little covers/caps that you can buy at any hardware store that you put on the ends of the wires. If you are not familiar with this procedure, please do not attempt it before getting educated. The first step in removing the fan is of course, turning off the power. Once the wires are disconnected from the fan you screw each wire into the little covers and shove them into the space. If you want to keep the space for future electrical use, then you can attach a block of wood to the joist in the opening so it is level with the ceiling height. You can then use that block of wood for installation of the screw. (This is for the one piece pole). If you have a pressure fit pole (like X-Pole) you can just leave the space there and place the dome as usual. If you don't need the space anymore, you can just drywall, etc….but that would be quite a project!

Seems to be a common theme with this pole. Mine does the same thing and I know of at least 2 others that have the same issue. I think someone suggested some kind of oil or grease, but I haven't gone so far as to pursue it. Maybe someone will be kind enough to post a remedy!

I agree with what Alpha said. It is understandable for you to feel this way, and there is no reason to make light of it or dismiss those feelings right now. However, in the long run you have married an obviously, fantastic man. In time, none of these things will matter except for that. You will be building new memories with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. My husband and I will be married for 20 years next month. The photos are in an album, tucked away in a closet. Our love is right out in the open. In plain site, where everyone can see it. Take your time getting through your current emotions, but don't forget to focus on what really just happened!! You have a husband and you are a wife! Congratulations!!!!!!
