ahh! you’re right geogia, it is the half bow and arrow! the move you’re describing is a move that ive heard called the "pole wrap", but as you lift yourself up and spin around the pole, you bend your outside leg and point your toes…..the pencil mount is on page 8 (i just looked it up) of veena’s videos; really cool move. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

your combo sounds so pretty!! i wish taht there were a standard set of names for these moves though- like your lollipop is my straight leg fireman, and veena’s pinwheel knee spin is my sunwheel spin…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

hmm, im not sure flosquito, i think you posted this a few weeks back, but in my case when i haven’t danced for awhile i notice i’m definitely really rusty, so i just start at the beginning again with beginner spins and work my way back up…your strength will return and you’ll be back to your old status in no time. just dont give up!

what an awesome forum!! it was so interesting reading how everyone practices https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

now that im back at my apartment at school i usually stretch and pole every day or every other day- did you guys know that muscle tissue can be gradually lengthened up to 1.5 times their former size with regular stretching?? if that doesn’t make me want to stretch i dunno what does. (i read that from a book that was written in the ’80s so that info is probably outdated, but still it’s interesting)

i guess it depends on my mood- some days i just do whatever moves i feel like, other days i try to turn off my mind and let my body do whatever the music inspires it to (i know that sounds cheesy but you guys know what i mean). i actually made a binder of every single move ive ever heard of (yeah im a nerd lol) but then i just go through and do each move so i can better remember them or get better at the more advanced stuff. often during school classes if im not paying attention, im trying to create routines in my head which i try at home once i get out of class (bad student i know). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif or if im really into a song (like i am right now- framing hanley’s song lollipop is so incredible), i just keep it on repeat and try to choreograph different moves to different parts of a song and eventually a routine is formed (i feel so bad for my roommate, he must lose his mind when i keep a song on repeat for like 20 times lol).

awesome forum!! and beautiful combos you guys mentioned!!!

i love doing the pencil mount, then pulling myself up into the pole sit, leaning back into the plank, then all the way backwards into the inverted thigh hold, slide down a bit into an inverted handstand and then i forget the name of it but you link one ankle on the pole while allowing your entire body and other leg to lean to the opposite of the pole. actually then if you’re not exhausted by then you could pull yourself back up into the pole sit and just slide down. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif (i know its not christmas anymore but he’s just such a cute smiley!)

ok, so i can make a video through my webcam, not the best quality but it’s something right?? i’ll work on my routine/challenge for the week, but im not sure i’ll have a video for this week (still need to figure out youtube and figure out if i can even upload it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_joker.gif ) the only thing im worried about guys, is that i tend to be a slinky/sexual kind of dancer, i dont mean to be but its just how i dance. im worried to post something because i dont want to offend anyone, so i’m bringing it up now and if anyone is uncomfortable i wont post it.

that’s a cool idea glitter!!! if that’s not a challenge i dunno what is https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif poles, that’s exactly why we picked the prop one, just for that reason- that it seemed like one that everyone might be able to participate in. maybe next week we could pick 2 challenges and people could pick which one they wanted to work on? just an idea. i dunno.
anyways, good luck everyone on their challenge this week!!!

ps- COME TO CHAT ON FRIDAY TO PICK A NEW CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
