What a great idea! I can’t believe I’ve never thought to do this! I love using Excel to track things!

The Dollhouse Fitness in Encinitas (about 15 minutes away) is great! Also, if you’re on Instagram, check out my friend dredee1983. She teaches at that studio, as well as in her home. She also hosts pole jams!

I love using the MyFitnessPal app for logging meals. One of my favorite “recipes” is shredded chicken tacos. I boil chicken breast, then shred it with a fork. I make my own taco seasoning (I think it’s “Taco Seasoning I” on AllRecipes.com). Anyway, mix the seasoning into the chicken, then serve up on corn tortillas. I like to top mine with cabbage, red onion, tomatoes, avocado, and cilantro. Serve with limes. Four tacos is super-filling and just under 500 calories. You get a good mix of protein and veggies and it doesn’t feel like a healthy meal because it’s so good and flavorful! If you don’t eat meat, substitute the chicken with pinto beans!

I’m sorry you feel that way in class, that really sucks. I see you’re in Tacoma! You should come down to Envy-Fit in Bremerton! It’s probably about a 40 minute drive, but it’s a great studio and the owner is awesome. All the girls there are super-nice too, including me! 😉

I feel ya Runemist34! I am always going way too fast. It’s like my body doesn’t understand slow; although I wish it would because slow looks so good! I have been going to pole classes for almost four years and I am just barely starting to feel okay dancing “sexy.” I get super self-conscious when I’m dancing and think that I may be doing something wrong. If you ever get a chance to take a flow workshop with Marlo, DO IT!! She has some amazing exercises that were helpful to me in finding movement/flow. For example, she did one exercise where certain parts of your body could not leave the ground at all. We had to find out how to move/dance like that. It was awesome! I should really look into the Finding Your Freestyle stuff. People really seem to like that!

TaraKarina and Jenyne Butterfly were the reason I started pole dancing! Right meow, my current pole obsession is Eva Bembo. Her dancing is unreal! Also, Sasja Lee. She has insanely unique tricks and super-fluid dance moves. Of course, my pole instructor at the studio I go to! She is bomb at teaching, dancing, and is really strong.

Sierra Taye, that sucks, I didn’t even think about that. However, if it makes you feel any better, it was so loud in there, you probably wouldn’t be able to meet anyone anyway. The after party isn’t really the best place to do that anyway, the actual expo room and pole star Q&A is (in my opinion). Also, since they had the after party the first night of the expo this year, I think a lot of the “stars” left early and/or didn’t show up at all since they are teaching this morning. (Hugs)

I used to have the lessons a few years ago. They were great, but I stopped using them because it was hard for me to self-motivate to actually use them. Also, it was hard for me to tell if my technique was correct. I guess that’s what the live chats were for, right? So, kind of my fault there. I agree that more advanced lessons would be great, as well as floorwork. I especially have trouble with floor flow from the pole to the floor and back again. Maybe you already do this, but it would be great to have groups of people working on specific things to keep each other motivated/accountable. I do agree that you all are great at responding when anyone has questions about the moves too!

Yay! CrazyKosters, I think some early morning airport shenanigans are in order! Are you on the 6:30am Delta flight?

Fun! I might be able to stop by! Also, is anyone else getting to Vegas super-early tomorrow? My flight gets in at 9:00am, and I doubt I’ll be able to check in at that time. I’m wondering if anyone would want to go to the pool?

Verticali, I know Somer Ahonen is going to be there again doing pole photo shoots. It looked like a lot of fun, I might do it this year! Also, I know Sam Green will be there again taking pics of many workshops, etc.

I am really bad at practicing floorwork. I love the way it looks in videos of other people (Eva Bembo, Alethea, etc…), but when I do it, I feel like I just look so stiff. Then again, I am comparing myself to the aforementioned, so what do I expect? Haha! I spoke to a friend about it, and she reassured me that there aren’t really any “rules” or specific moves you have to do to be considered floorwork. She said that it really just depends on what you think feels good and/or looks good on your body. I’m always so concerned that I am doing something wrong when practicing floorwork, so that was really good to hear. She also said to start with some sort of a plan of moves you want to incorporate. I just have to get over my own insecurities. Thanks for starting this topic, it’s good to know I’m not totally alone in this. I’m excited to practice tomorrow!
