I love this thread cos I am currently working on all of these! Over the last few days I got my elbow grip straight edge or straight edge v, and I suddenly find it more secure and more fun than the forearm grip! But I am weird cos I feel more stable once I am away from the pole more (go figure..).

Split grip though still eludes me 🙁 🙁 Which confuses me cos I can do elbow grip so well, you would think having 2 gripping hands on the pole would be easier? I invert up and then I bring the inside hand down and push myself up into a caterpillar, then I push my butt away from the pole and as soon as I take my legs off I drop right down, so split grip hates me 🙁 Although I can go from a cradle into extended butterfly and hold that for ages (split grip) yet can't do split grip with legs off 🙁 I hope it comes with time!

Aww that sucks! My arms are much more flexible than my legs.. I'm so far away from the splits it's ridiculous lol.  Maybe specific stretches will help your arms flex back further 🙂

I can do this in an elbow grip now, and I find it easier than forearm grip, go figure! lol.  As soon as I caterpillar up I feel heavy in this position, so I quickly  then hook the elbow around and push out and as soon as my legs are off I feel more lighter and comfortable than I did in caterpillar, odd!!

Another version but facing a bit differently

This is a fun move, Veena has a lesson on the Bow and Arrow 🙂 You can either have both hands gripping the pole below your bottom, or one there and bring the other one down and near your head, I like this second hand placement better cos I can flex my body out more!

I took lessons for 2 months and learnt nothing compared to when I got my own home pole.. suddenly I was gaining strength and new tricks like never before! I love my pole soo much and find it hard to stay off it for a day, let alone a few days

Thanks, I wouldn't be poling without the support of this site, and all it has to offer, including all of us supporting each other! I log on every day and it motivates me 🙂

Very true Jess – I need to make the most of what I can do and remember it would be boring if I could do every trick right now, cos there would be no dream moves or anything to aim for! So having challenges and tricks I can't do yet should be a positive, thanks for putting my mind back on track 🙂

Wow isn't it funny!! I feel with the forearm grip having both hands gripping the pole gives me safe hold of the pole and allows me to move off it and out, but in elbow grip there doesn't seem to be much 'grip' in the elbow and the lower arm takes all the weight and I just slip off… oh and I end up with MAJOR bruises on my inner upper arm LOL.  I'll work on it though cos I think elbow grip looks better!!

Thankyou SO much guys! I didn't expect so many responses, what a lovely feeling 🙂 I don't take pole lessons or have local pole buddies so you guys are the only pole family I have!

ps if anyone wants me to black out the background of a pole photo of theirs you can inbox me, I love doing it! 🙂

I bought the might grip gloves, great product, nothing wrong with them, but I feel weird in them, I prefer skin on pole!! I just wipe the pole with glass cleaner a lot and wipe my hands and battle the sweat/slip that way…

Good warning Angel, Twisted Grip can easily cause injuries! I stick to split grip I don't want to ever risk an injury like that 🙁 I know it could happen in split grip but theres less pressure on the twisted wrist, I never get any pain after doing split grips (I do them a lot) but after twisted grip tries (and I can't even try, I just try the position) my wrist already hurts 🙁 Be careful
