45mm all the way!!! I got a 50mm static pole 5 years ago when I WANTED to start poling and NEVER used it after a few goes cos it felt so wide, fat, horrible and impossible.  It literally just stood proud in our lounge for 5yrs and I never poled til September last year when I sold it and got a 45mm chrome xpole and the world of pole welcomed me! 🙂 And I don't have small hands either, I feel I have big hands compared to others! But yeah 45mm all the way for me 🙂

Oh and guess what I ordered 2 nights ago!!! A 45mm Brass xpole!!!! They are available in Aussie already.  I AM SO EXCITED!!! I have serious slippery days with my 45mm Chrome so much so that sometimes I feel nervous in moves I am usually confident in incase I slip right off.  The brass will solve this I hope and give me grip and allow me to do my moves even better and good timing cos I'm trying the TG handspring and working on my cartwheel mounts now.. maybe the brass will help me get them lol!

Yep body mods can sure get in the way sometimes! I just got a piercing on my foot tattoo and it's almost in the way when I Caterpillar up on the pole (its on my gripping foot that grips with the top of the foot) here's a pic..

I have to kinda Caterpillar up and try to shift the weight onto the inner side of my foot more to not squash it! It seems tolerable if I wear a bandaid over it, lol

Forgot to add that when I started poling 7 mths ago I said to myself no accidents or falls… that kinda goes out the window when you get into harder stuff! Just be careful 🙂

also wanted to add my poor big toe that got kicked when i was trying the cartwheel is now a very dark maroon colored toe nail and it may come off 🙁 its so gross seeing your nail bleeding and in agony after such a stupid thing… fancy kicking myself!!

Yep I've fallen out of a forearm grip straight edge when first learning it, straight back on my back.  And fallen out of 2 elbow grip straight edge or aysha when learning to find my balance, managed to release the bottom arm both times and landed on my butt without any pain, with my elbow still sorta around the pole, lol!

Been put off the cartwheel mount with momentum now after a) not latching on with the lower hand as I kicked up and whacking my ear/side of face right into the pole and b) going to kick up with the inside leg and smashing that heel into the big toe of my stationary foot… worst pain ive ever felt!

when I decide to go back to the cartwheel I think I'm gonna just keep trying it from having 2 hands on the pole already… is it much harder??? i dont care im too scared to do it the old way 🙁

I'm gonna place my order today 🙂 When it says x-pole Brass pole in "Brass Finish" is it just coated in brass or what does "finish" mean? It won't rub off will it? lol

Thanks guys! Yep in Aussie they are available, didn't even know they weren't everywhere! Finally we get something first LOL

I usually clean my Chrome with glass cleaner and a tea towel, would that be ok for brass? I read you can clean it with Metho too, maybe I'll use that..

I started with a 50mm pole (not xpole) about 5 years ago and never really used it cos it was so wide and horrible to hold! It literally just stood tall in our lounge room for 5yrs til I sold it 6 months ago, bought a brand new chrome 45mm xpole and took 2 months worth of lessons. After that I stopped lessons and found Studioveena and well, here I am, addicted and happy with 45mm — I have big hands and hated the 50mm. weird!

I'm loving my headstands lately!! I'm trying to get them without a pole so working on going up with minimal momentum and holding at the top, it's so much fun balancing without the pole on my butt! I also like coming down as slow and controlled as I can as savy said

I got another exciting move today!! TG Aysha!! I can hold it for ages, way longer than elbow grip, and my body is so still it's scary lol.  Hubby was able to get lots of pics in a row and he said are you ok or frozen lol! I get into it from an invert, no way I'm jumping or jerking into a "TG" move

Thankyou all so so much! For all your amazing and detailed responses! I feel a lot better today, last night I was tired and emotional I guess. I just wish I could keep the same progress with this move – I was so happy less than a week ago when I kicked up and held…sure it was not a perfect mount, but feeling that “hold” was amazing. Now I think about it too much and over analyse the move and feel a but hesitant.

Cinara I love your post, I’m sure its what is happening with me. The mind sure gets in the way sometimes!! Cartwheel mount and tg handspring are 2 of my ultimate goals…but I also have to remind myself they are 2 quite advanced moves and to b patient!!

Today I poled for 2hrs and did a very cool shoulder mount which felt easier than it ever has, held an elbow grip s/edge for ages and got the gemini-scorpio switch so I had a good session. I feel “stronger” for sure even tho I still look sloppy most of the time !

As soon as I get some sort of video editing program (what do u all use?) I can put up some vids, they are all on my camera just waiting :/

    Thanks guys!!!
