OK just scrolled up and saw Chem's week 1 pic. OMG!!! I think I am not flexible at all now, shes pratically toosh on the ground at week 1 LOL

I am just into week 3 and have noticed a vast improvement in the last week! I have done NO sports or flexibility all my life (I am 28 in may) til I started poling 7mths ago. I wish I took an initial photo of my side splits, I was much further from the ground! Anyway I'm at this stage now… I have NO IDEA if this is good or bad or what, I am closer than I was by far but I hope one day I go all the way!

I wish I could do one of them!! I can't do either yet 🙁 I've done I reckon 100 cartwheel attempts already and still not legs all the way up with core holding me up. My legs get high at times but not good yet. Front handspring I kick up and get my foot on the pole but can't spring up into a nice straight edge yet 🙁 I just want one of them!!!!!!! I feel incomplete without some sort of springing up mount and its really peeving me off lol 🙁

I feel like I'm getting nowhere yet in week 2, doing the supine stretch especially depresses me cos my leg is still way up in the air 🙁 I Shall keep at it..

Thanks guys! I never thought of using my band!! Tried it tonight and its much better, I can focus on lying back and keeping the leg straight now and breathing etc without worrying about grabbing my ankle and my leg bending etc 🙂

I am a week into this program and focusing on all 6 stretches daily. I have a question with the 2nd stretch, the supine (sp?) one, it says lie on your back, one leg bent at the knee with foot on floor and straighten other leg in the air and hold at the ankle and pull back. If my leg is straight up, I can't reach my ankle without lifting my torso up!

In terms of enjoying the arm position, I just wish it liked me when both legs are airborne, LOL. Forearm grip I was determined to move away from and into Elbow Grip because I found it boring lol… Elbow grip looks more adventurous lol

MemberMarch 23, 2011 at 6:46 am in reply to: Aysha…split grip vs. forearm grip vs. elbow gripIt's so weird that when I caterpiller up high and position my top arm in elbow grip, it feels gummy and unstable until I quickly take legs off and let my body be as far from the pole as possible, then suddenly it goes from gummy useless elbow grip to the main support of my straight edge!! Sorry bad explaination but I am always eager to get away and get my legs off cos then my core takes hold and I am can stay up for a good amount of time haha

Terrible at it right now, I come straight down when my legs get off the pole! I shall practise 🙂

Pushing the butt up and to the side of the lower arm helped me balance and realize what to do

My abs need work too! Veena has some great ab strengtheners in her strength section, I especially like the 'switch' one I think it's called. I also do a lot of lying on my back with knees bent and hands behind my head, and crunching up knee to diagonal elbow… gosh these are hard after several reps! My abs burn LOL
Anyway I'm totally new to workouts and strength stuff so I'm sure others will have better suggestions 🙂 I'm interested too!
