I’m a bugger and pick at mine so they have never built up that much, also as others have said a shaver is fun to keep them down 🙂

I pulled my gracillus (little hamstring muscle) a few months back, stupid muscle, it’s never been right since 🙁 I can’t do any box split style stretching and I was nearly there when it happened too!!! I feel your irritation xx

Ooooooh that is a good point Webmaster, as in if the ceiling slopes it is still 'flat' but the ceiling is not 'level'….Hmmmm maybe, thanks 🙂

DEFINATELY take pictures and purchase a video camera so you can record your moves too. Start now! Practice freestyle and transitions and do everything on both sides. (I didnt, and now I regret that!) Have fun, and dont compare your progress to others, we all have different strengths. 🙂

I know about the muscle vs fat thing above (muscle takes up less space) which is why since starting poling I have dropped inches but retained weight. However I have not gained weight on the scales since my uni days back in 2004-2007 and since have been a stable 9s10lb. I’m defo not a strict muscle builder Chem haha, so maybe it’s a bit of both- muscle and fat all sat nicely to keep me warm in this blooming horrible weather 🙂

Cheap baby lotion helps my dry legs stick to the pole. Use it in the morning

On this topic, I have been pondering my own weight lately. Not negatively, I don’t care what numbers show on the scale as long as I feel good and my clothes fit, anyway I digress. So forever, I have been a max weight of 9st 10, over the last few months it has gone to 9st 13, the only thing I have changed is including small weights in my warm up once a week and i have been working on more strength moves (ayesha/SE/handspring kinda stuff) when poling plus full routine practice. I don’t feel I have put ‘fat’ on (I can usually tell being only 5ft 4) I’m not sure you could put on 3lb of muscle in like 3/4 months. Anyone know? I only ask because weight fluctuation for me is very unusual (excluding a lb or so at that time of the month) and its annoying I’m not sure why! I don’t want tips on how to lose it, just if you think it’s possible to gain that in muscle from what I’ve said?

I’m not sure it is something to strive for, sorry, it makes me sad that women feel the need to be ‘perfect’ like the images the media portrays through the use of models who by the way probably have a paunch too but its been airbrushed off! I’m sure as hell not going to cut out all the things I enjoy just to reduce my overall body fat % for a tiny plump of fat on my belly when I am a perfectly healthy individual. I am what I am and if someone else doesn’t like it they can bugger off! Look in the mirror and count all the things that you like about yourself, because they are the only things nice people notice about you 🙂 and if its about that belly when you’re poling, then no one is looking at your belly, they are looking at you pulling yourself up a pole!!!! 🙂

I have that too!! It’s being a woman 😀 learn to love it rather than strive to rid it….x

MemberDecember 4, 2012 at 4:11 am in reply to: how long would it take to achieve this level of skillI agree with everyone above, after poling for just over 1 year I can do a lot of the moves she does BUT I CANNOT put them together with the fluidity, finesse and stamina (5 min long routine :-O ) that she does. Plus she must be super dizzy with all that head swirling :-/ if I was trying to get to that I would focus mainly on flexibility, strength and cardio for stamina. People underestimate how much stamina is required to keep up that level of pole!
