If your pole is new it might still be slippy anyway, try giving it a good clean with alcohol to help with the grip. The poles at my studio are much grippier than mine at home just because they have been worn down more

Not sure if this has been posted already but try going into chopper from invert to get the feeling of keeping your bum up, then lower your legs down as slowly as you can. That will really build your core up to help u do it from the floor. I struggle with this move too, sometimes I get it sometimes I am no where near. The more I think about it the more I can’t get it! Good luck

I use it on my iPhone, it works great. I paid for the full version-you might as well otherwise you’re just curious about what moves are in the other sections that you didn’t get. It’s a good app to remind yourself of correct technique. It is missing quite a lot of common moves though, but has lots I haven’t seen elsewhere x

Im working on my chopper at the moment…and I got it and held it properly on Thursday, I nearly cried I was so excited!! I dont want to lose it, so every practice includes a lot of choppers..

Also working on my static spins, spent since Oct on a spinny pole so now I need to get to grips with the static…https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Chem- I have noticed this change in my bum I think it’s my fav change.
Additionally your bingo wings vanish 🙂 Wahooo!
Overall poling has made me more slender and muscular but not manly at all. Good luck with your pole journey x

with the bondage tape…how does this stop the bruising? Buying some anyway cos I quite like the idea, lol!! I also get bruising on the top of my feet, I am going to take your tip and wear socks when climbing from now on.

I dont know what I would do without this website for tips like this… I just assumed the bruises are normal cos I get bruises EVERYWHERE from poling and generally bruise pretty easily. But maybe it is my technique…Thanks!!

Thanks Magik, I tried to get my side hooked on the pole too but not sure if I managed it as the arm pain was the focus! There is so much to think about with this move in terms of positioning your body before you can begin to lift your feet off the floor!
Do you practice from standing or higher up the pole? X

Wow, we all do it so differently 🙂 at first I felt like the intense warm up was eating into my pole time (as someone said above) but really honestly after the different session tonight I prefer it and think I am better on the pole after a good hard warm up. It really gets me in the zone where I forget about everything else and just focus on pushing myself 🙂
Even from the start of beginners class we have been really worked in the warm up as my instructor says if you want to pole well you need to be strong. However she does change it depending on the level of class as I recently went to the first lesson of the beginners group and thought they got a really easy ride.. They didn’t think that though, and neither did I when i started, lol!

I tried teddy tonight from standing-all I have to say is OUCH! I know it sounds silly but I’m scared of that pain there! Pain on pole sit, climbing, laybacks etc I can handle but ouchy on the arm :-/
