Thanks Chemgoddess. I appreciate your advice.
I read the threads and I have to say now I feel I am not as developed as I thought I was. Our tutor does not teach us to do tricks both sides (although I do try the spins/pole climb on both sides at home after reading about how important it is on here) and we learnt to invert after about 7 weeks. I am currently learning the butterfly move.
I am a little concerned now :-/ I am starting at another studio in Feb aswel as the one I go to at the moment, I wonder if she will teach as this blog recommends? -
Tigger tail… My hone won’t follow that link, I have a pic I’d like to post. What’s the name of your fb page then I can search for it instead please? X

Hey! Congrats on starting the pole journey! I have been poling for only 4 months now. I go to a class once a week and have a pole at home to practice what we learn in class. I also have that app for my phone which is fantastic! I have found the warm up my instructor gives us is the best for getting pole limber. She makes us do push ups, squats, pull ups on the pole and crunches, all of which REALLY improve my strength. I try to do them at least every other day. At first I didn’t think I was getting anywhere but a basic pull upon the pole before you start demonstrates how much your strength is improving week by week. I Defo get morefrom classes than online learning plus as mentioned earlier it’s much safer. Just keep plugging away 🙂

Tara’s pole video to “you could only hope for this” was what I got addicted to when I started poling. I thought I would never be that good!! I’m pleased to say I can now do a lot of the moves in that video but not with the elegance and control Tara has. Defo my motivation Tara, hope you get back to poling soon then we can see some new videos. Also didn’t know you were from the UK, me too! 🙂

My Nan bought me my xpole – how cool is that?
My mum was well impressed at what I could do in such a short space of time.
My friends admire how difficult it is and are impressed I’m trying it.
My fella knew it was excercise based (he’s a Sport Science Lecturer) so knew it wasn’t sexy learning! His mates however cheered him like he had won the lottery! His family didn’t seem bothered but they don’t ask me about my progress.
My boss was great about it -his daughter does it, he ended up advising me on where to get a pole!! My other boss is a feminist and doesn’t agree with it, despite my explanations that I don’t do it for men, she couldn’t see past that. Shame as she’s a very intelligent woman.
So, overall a positive response I think 🙂 -
We use crash mats in lessons-they are not fat and squishy more like gymnastics mats.
I use cushions from my sofa for at home, great for landing on but not standing on as they move on my laminate floor :-/
Heard people use foam mattress toppers which I think is a good idea.
I don’t think you should learn new pole moves unless you have a mat underneath you! -
Hi poler! I’m from Lancashire-not too far from the border of Yorkshire. I’m also a beginner but fortunately I have a studio nearby. Good luck with the poling 🙂

Best thing I have ever done 😉 Secondary to that is doing my level 2 exam, proud of myself for executing all my moves as best as I could and for keeping my nerve. Still awaiting my result – fingers crossed its a good one.

Ended up ringing x pole and they sent me out a 100mm extension which fits perfectly (apart from the fact the top doesn’t fit completely into the 100mm ext as the xjoint is in the way) so now I have my pole up, did a few moves-sundial spin and upside down as well as getting the fella to have a good tug and it seems stable.
First session on it tomorrow evening so fingers crossed it stays where it should 🙂 -
Hi ladies, I have also just started poling, I’m on my 11th week and am completely addicted already-it’s all I can think about. Getting my pole installed this week at home so looking forward to practicing the moves from lessons at home.
The best thing is how quickly you see yourself progress. Poling is definately the cure for bingo wings too! Haha!
Good luck with your new pole. Thre are lots of videos on YouTube to start you off, just don’t forget to warm up properly before jumping on the pole, it really makes a difference to your moves and the pain you’re in the following day! X -
Thanks for replying Empyrean.
There was a tiny gap (1-3mm)at the bottom of the adjuster cover, which is why I tried the 125mm extension, but it extends the pole way too much, there’s no way it will fit between floor and ceiling.
I think the 100ml extension will also be too big. I think you’re suggestion of the board is a good idea. Thanks -
Tried to put up my xpole xpert tonight. My ceiling height is 7ft 9″, so I shouldn’t need an extension but to get the pole to fit tight I have to extend the adjuster more than 5inch, which it says not to do in the manual. Tried to use the 125mm extension and it extends the pole too much so I can’t get it up.
Any ideas guys?? Really want it up asap!!
