    Don’t you dare be emabarrassed!

What size do you wear? In shoes and clothes. I have a teenage daughter who’s outgrowing stuff faster than I can buy it.

The principal did have a mediation session with Shania and the other girl and they agreed to put their beef to rest and get over it. Then soon after the girl was heard talking trash again about wanting to fight Shania again. Sigh.

This was weeks ago and it has since blown over, but my baby does get picked on a lot by the other girls. What I’m trying to figure out is what she’s doing (or not doing) that makes her such a target. Every month it’s a new crew of girls that want to jump her. She doesn’t have any close friends and spends pretty much every wekend and evening home with us.

Write stuff on the mirror. It doesn’t show that well in videos and you’re looking in the mirror anyway so while your checkin yourself out…check what other move you wanna do.

I got the idea from Jessalyn when we were working on our competition routines. Her and I had the mirror at her studio filled with moves in black marker. LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

    Hi Andriana,
I’m a nurse and we give this drug all the time in the clinic I work in and I’ve never heard about these side effects. Why hasn’t the FDA pulled the drug?

I’m sorry you had so many problems while you were on it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I have these and I will tell you that they suck for pole dancing. I had them in Ellies and they were HUGE. Got them in Pleasers and there is no support around you foot for landing any move. They are great if you are looking just for show as they do not give you the squished toe look that the other ones do but that is about it.

OMG I have those too and I totally agree. They were originally purchased for "bedroom" fun but when I got my pole I tried dancing in them and hell no! They are only made for show LOL.

    Okay. . . there are a LOT. . .

Jenyne, Karol, The chick from Studio Antix, Sarah Creutel, Fleur, Saphire, the list can go on and on and on, lol. . .

But whenever I need inspiration I usually take a peek at Jenyne or Studio Antix, unless another pro has a performance vid up. . .

You forgot to list me Skittles!

And you know what else….I pole better with others. Does anybody else do that?

I suck when I’m alone, like really bad. But when I’m with other people I can do all kinds of stuff LOL….it’s wierd https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I can be a little like this. I think being around other dancers just inspires me to push a little harder, move a little more fluidly, etc.

I think I’m just trying to show off. LOL

Im not 100% sure how I feel about it. On one hand, I would love for my passion to be reconized as a sport. We all know its hard work and dedication to do what we do. But then again, I feel like women like me who can dance like crazy but cant perform wild and crazy tricks will never have a chance to win a competition. Like alof of us have said, that if they broke us down in different catagories then I think things would be different.

Like Sissy said, alot of the sexiness would be removed. The music would be clean, the outfits would be mild etc.

It’s already that way though Mini. You’ll never get into the big competitions (Like USPDF or the international comps) without tricks. Never. Dancing usually doesn’t have anything to do with it. Some would argue that the pros even dance, like at all. LOL

there might be hope….i made a proposal to USPDF about having a category for the more dancey girls (similiar to xpose fitness where they have a floor/chair and pole dance with no inverts category) and a dance studio/group category as well. they said they are giving some thought to this!!! so there still might be hope. i am really trying to push behind this b/c there are so many good dancers out there. but even brook notary who had judged comps say pole dancing is lacking transitions, musicality, and things of that nature. here is her workshop description from USPDF: "It’s been an honor to judge the USPDF competitions for the past year. I’m in awe of the talent.Yet, I believe the area of transitions deserve more attention. In this class, pole dancers will focus on how to create strong transitions on and off the pole, and how to seamlessly create a beginning, middle and end without losing consistency. With choreographic guidance, floor work exercises, and pole to pole transition exercises, I’d like you to leave my class with a better understanding on how to perform a full-rounded routine."

so just keep sending in those emails to them to push for a category like this. i think its only a matter of time! i am keeping my fingers crossed https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

That would be so cool. I’d so submit for something like that…..*dreams*

Let us know how it goes.

Now I’m going to work on it when I get home to try and give you some ideas, because I’m trying to do it at work on an imaginary pole and I’m comin up empty handed. LOL

I’m all of the above and I can see the benefits of being both "home" taught (that’s cute) and studio taught. I have taken classes, use veena’s online lessons, have had skype pole sessions, and jammed with other polers.

I like to learn things at studios and jams, then work on them and perfect them at home. I have seen tons of moves on youtube that I haven’t been taught in a class or in an online lesson. Then I try it and sometimes can’t get it right. That’s where instructors and friends come in handy. If I really struggle with a particular move I’m not going to get it unless somebody helps me. Usually watching me as I do it (via online or in person) and telling me what "I’m" doing wrong specifically.

I’m just more hands on like that and it’s how I learn best….plus when I’m upside down it’s hard to watch a video on youtube or a DVD LOL.

For me, personally, nothing beats having a set of eyes on you, watching you, and working on what you’re doing wrong or what you could be doing better…no matter what form it comes in https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I think it all depends on your learning style. Kind of like going to school online. LOL
