The ringed glossary is only a perk for members to buy but access to the list is online as linked above. The list is not going to be something that only members will have access to.

The other concept, to my understanding, is that the list of names is not intended to replace any studio’s or instructor’s list unless they WANT to use the standardized names, but to provide a second language so that everyone can become "bi-lingual" in pole. We have our own names that we use "at home" in our studios but when we travel or talk with others we have a universal language that we all speak so that we can communicate.

That’s my understanding too. A good example is the general name for a half spin is a half spin. I took Azriel to Xpose the other day and the instructor told us to do a "Catch spin" Azzy looked confused and I leaned over and yelled "That’s a half spin". LOL I translated it for her. Bi – lingual. LOL

I have heard that the Star Stand Alone pole comes undone when you spin left…this is a huge issue for me because I spin both ways. I have also ordered one and they say that the problem is fixed.

I have used platinum stages poles for a long time now and I have to say not all ps poles are equal. Some are great…others not so much. I generally prefer stainless steel so they are my only option. Out of 4 Ps poles I had 2 had to get new ceiling plates, 2 others didn’t thread with the extra extensions and just recently my pole went through the ceiling plate…when I called them they tried to charge me almost $50. Trust me the pole going through the ceiling plate was not my fault I spent a year and a half taking them up and down I think I know how to put them up.

The pole went through the cieling plate? Are you serious?????

I’m debating on whether or not to sell PS poles….something is keeping me from it…..

I don’t think you’re wrong at all. I have 3 kids and sometimes they all can’t go everywhere, that’s understandable but if it happens everytime than it sounds like it might be favoritism and that’s not fair to the little one. And it may not be favoritism (that may be the wrong word) but maybe the 3 year old is easier to watch or requires less than the 2 year old. And maybe she doesn’t even realize shes doing that.

My little sister has 2 little girls and my mother dotes on those kids like it’s nobody business. They can do no wrong while it seemed for a long time that if one of my kids stepped one foot in the wrong direction she was jumping down their throats and screaming her head off. I finally brought it up to her and she was so upset that she started crying . She didn’t even realize she was treating my older kids like crap while the new shinier kids got treated like little angels. I even brought it up to my sister who also agreed but didn’t know how to tell my mom.

Try bringing it up in a calm open way. Tell her how you feel without acusing her of anything. Maybe it’ll help.

However I will say that to state that "pole dancing" sites are not appropriate is just ridiculous and maybe they are looking for an excuse to make a case against someone.

Exactly Empy! That’s my whole point. I don’t mind being told to stay off target.com and oldnavy during work hours. That’s fine, I should be working anyway. But to take her computer away for like 3 days and say the whole hard drive had to be scrubbed because she was watching pole dancing? Then call us all into a meeting about it and thoroughly embarrass me like I was showing people porn or something. I have to say it pissed me off. I wanted to say "You were gonna take her computer anyway because she’s online more than she does work related stuff so don’t try and use my dear baby studioveena as your scape goat!". I personally don’t abuse internet use. I actually don’t have much time to. But she does, so I guess I picked the wrong person on the wrong day to show my video to.

Now I’m afraid to surf anything with the word pole in it for fear of computer siezure and reprimand! LOL but I guess shopping online all day is ok.

Read the whole thing last week and got to meet you sunny yesterday at the convention! Wow! Great work woman! You are awesome! I’ll have to submit something for ya, maybe a ‘teach me something’. I’ve got lots of good tricks up my sleeve!

Ooooo Angel, you gotta do a "teach us something" spot. You just gotta!

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss but I’m happy to see that you have motivation to get back to poling and I believe that dancing can be very therapeutic and will be good for you. Like Veena and Daya said, take your time. Dance around and if something hurts stop doing it. Go easy and keep your head up girl.

Lol Sissy…I’ve actually been body painted before and done pole work and for the most part if it’s done right the liquid latex stays on. Chem my friend David who does my pics and I are gonna do a new pole shoot with another friend Giovanni who’s a body paint artist, I’ll have to get you in on it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif As for the gloves I’ve never tried them but I have tried the mighty grip powder and like Sissy I’m a dryhands girl!

If the paint doesn’t stay on maybe it’ll smear off in cool patterns. LOL I wanna go to a super cool body paint photo shoot https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Sissy…I wish that I was able to take pictures….went to a black light party a few months back. I bought the black light hairspray, which is clear in normal light and then blue/white in black light. I had my clear pumps, green/pink/white knee sox, white shorts, green bra and pink fishnet top. I had sprayed the hairspray into a cup and proceeded to paint myself (I have a black light at home). When the regular lights went off at midnight and they just had black lights I got up and poled. I GLOWED!!!!

Now we return to our regularly scheduled topic…..

You little trickster you! I bet you wow’d em! Shame on you for not capturing that moment. Seriously.

I got an elbow grip one time (in Angels work shop) and hot damn it left a nasty bruise in the crook of my arm. I got it though. I think trusting the grip was the key for me. I’m more of a split grip girl myself and never understood how you could hold yourself up by the elbow. It just didn’t seem to make sense. Angel showed us how to engage the whole arm, like someone else said, forearm and bicep. Squeeze squeeze and pull. Make the pole your elbows bitch. Show that pole who’s boss! I haven’t tried it again for fear of the bruise. It was gnarly! One of those that shows up right away LOL. But I bruise easy so…that’s not saying much.

I have an iphone but its not the same. Plus I can’t be all on my phone all day at work, but if I’m on the computer somebody could mistake me for working…so it’s ok. LOL
