I will give my opinion and many may dislike. I have no problem whatsoever teaching women pole dancing that will use it to strip. Who am I to decide how they use it? In fact, I am harder on these students because of the fact that their skills will most likely be seen in the public. I teach them to make it an art, to tell a story with their dance because in reality this will make them more money than just “shaking booty”. Everyone has their reason for doing things and you never know what might lead them to that door, so instead of getting upset and frustrated cause they might strip, consider why they might need to.
Also I view it as, I would rather teach these girls to do it right with class. There will always be strippers, and pole dancing will always be associated with it, so if I bring up a handful of classy, badass polers, then at least I feel as though they can properly represent.
In a way, as a teacher I would be more upset to have a student say that they plan on learning all I have to give and only ever do it at the studio than I would to have someone say they will use it at work. Shoot, I have seen many many girls on YouTube who are not strippers degrade pole dancing much more than the stripper industry.
But I tend to digress, so I will end here.

I use various types of fitness programs to help with pole. Here is an awesome site for workouts. She even has specific body areas. I would def listen to her video for beginners! I am a crossfitter so a lot if this was normal to me but for a beginner it may be intense. http://www.lovingfit.com

What helps me make sure I have a good knee grip is to invert into an open v, which brings my knees past the pole. This allows me to really lock the pole into my knee pit when I being it back to the pole. It helps me lock into every nook and cranny I need and it helps build strength too!

I will be at SPC, but since my husband is tagging along with four poling women, I have decided not to drag him along to the Expo too. I am competing in Level 2 Dramatic & Entertainment. I wish life wasn't so hectic and I had more time to prepare. I made the crazy decision to enter the Crossfit Open and do this, so injuries have been pretty numerous due to the insane WODs I have been doing.
Katana, I am sorry to hear about your cats! Being an animal lover, I an understand the grief and sadness that your heart feels. I have seen your videos and you are very talented, so just dance with your heart and you will do awesome. I will see you there since we are in two of the same catagories!

Even if its light, you are working the muscles and doing so without warming up could possibly cause more soreness, injury, pain later, etc. I am always precautious and warm up no matter what

I am somewhat confused… you said warm-up before weights but then spoke of sit-ups. When I think weights, I think like push presses, snatches, deadlifts, clean-jerks, etc. You should warm-up before any weight workout. Before I do any lifts, I do rotational warm-ups like head/neck, shoulder, hips rotations, then I hit up line warmups like high knees, butt-kickers, slow bear crawls, then depending on what my focus for the day is, air squats, push ups, a few burpees.
If I am working anything with my shoulder or upper back I do this warm-up….

I would do regular warm-ups before weighted sit-ups for sure. Butterfly sit-ups are awesome for warming-up!

Hey, it is not a lite stage but an original. As far as replacing the pole, you would need to contact xpole!

Wish I would have seen that earlier! I spent some time and energy figuring the best way to do it. One reason why I dislike youtube, I searched that and it never popped up!
