I have been looking at their chair instructional for a while. Was wondering if that was good. I have to agree with you that one handed spin are not really taught per say…. and with what it sounds like when you finish the first pole DVD you are not strong enough to move on to the second one…. or prepared for and invert yet.

I think if you have the guns to try pole dancing and stay with it you can call your self a pole dancer. Even as an experienced dancer, of any type, you are always finding new things to learn and improve on old things and constantly drilling the basics.

I think that no matter what level you are at you can still call yourself a pole dancer. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I go to a general sports store that has rock climbing gear, and they normally have a large bag of resin for pretty cheap. However, I make small hand sized bags out of muslin to use.

I used dry hands before. It tended to help keep my hands dry for a while, but don’t do too much for me as far as grip goes. It was like baby powder in a liquid form.

This topic is really helpful for figuring out was certs I really want to get. Thank you all for your wonderful incite here. I have been wanting to get a pole cert for a while but I have been hesitating on the prices and wondered which one was better and what not. So I decided to start with ACE Group Fitness Instructor, and will go from there.

She was out in San Diego in March, and I did several classes with her. She is amazing, and a lot of fun to work with.

If you missed her this time around, don’t worry… she is planing on doing this tour again next year and adding more cities. I’m not sure which ones yet, but I can let you know if you would like.

Baby power helps, but only for so long. Most dance stores have thin knee pads (for about 8-10 dollars) that are made for jazz and hip hop dancers. They are about 1/2 an inch, or so, thick and are made for rolling and crawling around on the floor. They are also, normally, made of a slippery material that helps with sliding, even on carpet.
Until your feet get use to being used in that manor beware that you may get wood burn on the tops of your feet.

These are the type of knee pads I have and use frequently.

Wood floors and marble are the hardest not to stick to, and look like you are effortlessly gliding. My suggestion if you don’t have lots of time to practice balancing on the tops of your feet while still looking like you are on your knees… leg warmers or knee pads under leg warmers. This really helped me for the longest time. I might be able to put together a video of some of my favorite floor moves and some how to tips… that is if I can ever not be chained to my sewing machine.

I love tattoos… I’m still in the process of designing mine. There is a lot of symbolic meaning in the entire piece, but he (my dragon) is only half done. I’m hoping to get him done/started in the next year or so. The hard part is trying to figure out where I want to put him. I’ll have to find the few pages of sketches I have… and figure out how to post them up later.

Your dancing was beautiful. One thing that I can say, and others may agree is, don’t let those that don’t understand how to interpret dance tell you that you shouldn’t dance because they can’t see. There are some of us who can only bare our souls when we dance. It is hard not to let those that don’t understand how spiritual dance can be cloud our judgment and stop us from dancing. Because of these thoughts dancers will stop dancing and, in a way, your soul dies everyday from the lack of freedom in movement.

With topic I can go on extensively, but I think the point is clear enough… dance until they can see the beauty of dance for what it is… emotion, expression, freedom, love, and life through simple movements of artistic creativity.
