I found this while floating around you tube, and I thought I would share another cat pole dancing.

That was really cute…. too bad none of mine do that. I have one cat that tries to pole dance himself every now and then. Now that I have a video camera I’ll see if i can get a clip of him trying to pole dance. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

My best advice for breaking in a pair of dancing heels (ie. Stripper shoes/heels) is to get a thin pair of knee high socks from target, they are about $3. Put on the socks and walk around your house in your heels for about 3-4 days… about 2 hours a day will shape them for your foot. Then start wearing them without socks. The socks just shape the PVC (clear plastic around the toe area of the shoe) so that you don’t get blisters on your little toe or the side of you big toe. Walk around the house in them for another day or two without socks because your foot will sit differently in the shoe… in other words the plastic sticks to your foot and you have to get use to that. After you are completely comfortable with this on something like carpet then start by walking around the pole and shifting your weight. Then gradually move into turns and transitions. As you go along your dancing with shoes will get better.
This is how I break in all of my shoes. I don’t use shoes with straps around the ankle because, for me, I have found that when I dance for long periods of time my feet sweat and the shoe (the heel) will slide out from under my foot causing me to fall. There were a few times I almost broke my ankle. So I personally don’t do ankle straps. If they work for you more power to you. Also, this sounds bad, but shoe brand can be a big factor. I tend to stay with Pleasures (sp?) because they are the best made that I have tried so far. I don’t recommend the brand called Janes. I have broken them in short amounts of time and they have a tendency to cause me to fall more because the straps across them are too big for my feet. There is also slight differences in the placement of the heel. Janes tent to be made like a regular heel in regards to the heel spike being directly under you heel, fine for walking not so much for dancing. Pleasures heel spike is slightly to the outside egde of your heel. For walking, until you get use to it, it can be interesting, but for dancing it is wonderful. Most dancers shift their weight to the outside edge of their foot for dancing. Pleasures are also contoured shape that are more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. In other words they were thinking of dancers comfort and not just style.

Hey Sweetie,
I’m a little behind the curve here, but here goes….
I’m glad that you are not quitting (yay!!!), and it sounds like you have a great idea going for your time away from the pole. Working on the transitions is one of the best ways to get that dancy look you want. It might help to look at other styles of dance to like jazz dance or ballet for other ideas you can add into your practice (when you get back to your pole)…. maybe even a jazz dance class which is a lot of fun and they focus on your core.
I have to admit that I get highly frustrated really fast with learning new pole moves, or building up strength. I have been poling about a year and a half, almost two years, and I still can’t invert. Both of us will get there some day, but I love to watch your videos and see how far you have come. If you want a little more inspiration go look up curvydva on youtube. She is a voluptuous dancer, and is still just as sexy as any other dancer with a thinner body type. I have found a lot of inspiration in her practices.
*hugz* hope to see you flying on your pole again soon!

There is one thing that works for me.. It came from Honey, a girl I work with, and her approach is, "fake it until you make it. My goal when I dance is to make every person out there want me in the worst way no matter if I am their body type or not. Fake the confidence and one day it will happen."

Prince is a HUGE copyright freak about his stuff. I love a lot of the music, but I would stay away from posting anything with his music because they will pull it.

I wish I had a video camera to join in the fun… in a few more months that will happen. I love 80’s music, and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

I’m not sure what clubs you have in your area, but Deja Vu will normally hold an ammeter night depending on how busy the club is. I would say call around to the clubs in your area and ask. It is a little time consuming, but it might be worth it.

i found basic ballet helpful for me, but basic gymnastics might be helpful too…

Yes, yes, and yes…. I love partner stretching. When done right you can get so much more out of your stretching regiment. As far as stretching everyday, I have to because I get restless if I don’t, and, more importantly, I’m in pain if I don’t. So I wind up stretching multiple times a day.

Ballet from the age of 4 to 16, i think…. I would have to ask her again on that one… but I agree..

Felix had been dancing for eight months when she won Miss Australia 2006 and she won 2008 as well. She is amazing and has a wonderful sense of humor too.
