I’m a Christian, Catholic but not a Church goer (4-5 a year ). I have not founded a problem from friends and only some of my closest family were questioning me about it because they did have my same past perseption of pole dancing. I came to a studio to prank my best friend into taking a pole dancing class and I am the one that got hooked with all the fitness involved with this sport! As a Christian, it has not affected my beliefs, but be comfortable more with myself and understand other pole mates and their reasons.

Great to hear about this topic. I did not dance for the hubby and also felt nervous around him, but when my sister was visiting me last year, she helped me to do a sexy photo shoot with a cute lacy bra/undies and clear heels, and he love it!!! But just yesterday ,while I was posting a video here, he saw it and was fascinated of how “good” I was doing a free-style,and then he watched a bunch more that I have. And he is looking forward to see more!!! lol

I have had same problem, and 4 weeks prior my competition, I practice every week day…..Monday/Wednesday I video my practice( the whole routine) for up to 6-8 times with music loud to get in-zinc while imagining my judges….Tuesday/Thursday, I will practice my floor work, how I walk from and around the pole, stretch good, do my point toes exercises, and I’ll go to the gym for a run ,cardio, and leg workouts…Fridays I might do the whole routine once, or play around with harder tricks not included in my routine( so to not loose ability to do them !). Sat/Sunday I rest,or I might go to the gym for 1 mile run, arms workouts, flexibility stretches, some light workouts…Practice with your costume 2 weeks before competition ( with make-up and all the fixings in your hair), to feel how will fit and look while moving, and to be able to fix it, if need it!!! No matter the outcome, it’s an awesome, fun experience, and you will meet new pole mates!!!Yeayyy 🙂

I have a 5″ one also, and although I have not crashed on it (so far! ) it has giving me “peace of mind”. It does not work for me when I tried hand springs from the floor due to lack of stability on the ground, I’m way too short,….and because I still can not do that move !!! (But I can hand spring coming from the pole). Happy Poling!

You can find a great Crash Mat with YogaDirect (www.YogaDirect.com). They come in different colors and hight…Mine is red, 4″ high and attach at center with a sturdy velcro , and purchased 2 years ago. Each half bends in the middle for easier storage and I believe they sale a carry-on bag for it. It is bulky so I carry each halve under my arms. If you are using shoes while practicing, put, or purchase, a round yoga mat on top to protect it….There are other brands , but the best one I have seen is this one so far. Happy Poling!

Love poling around…..46 here, and tomorrow is my 2nd Pole anniversary !!!! It has been my “fountain of youth” main workout, and my hubby is sooooo happy with the results. My abs and overall body have been transformed since I started pole. Love my pole mates and always feel motivated and willing to learn.

I think I have met you before!!!! At the Studio were I go, the first year was super hard, and she almost close…TG she did not.I started going there on their 2nd year,( when I founded out of it existence!) with very few members and only offering 3 different classes (one of intro to Pole, the others as dance). Now, nearing the 5th year, it seems to have exploded with new memberships, “oddles” of classes to get fit, and 3 levels of Pole classes. The instructors are amazing ( and I think you have met one called Emma!!!) Which you were closer to pay you a visit, and hope all goes well. So hang though and enjoy!!! 🙂

It could also be the way you are breathing! Unknowingly ,many of us have the tendency to hold our breath and be tense during the hard part of the execution (like certain lifts or during inverts). Improperly breathing while lifting can increase blood pressure leading to light headedness , dizziness , nausea….To avoid this, inhale in the easy parts and exhale in the hard parts( when the muscles worked are shortening) of a repetition. Changing your breathing technique will become very helpful with spins, inversions and climbing, and should decrease the amount of sweat and greater endurance on the pole!!!

I work in the workhouse at my husband's company. Needless to say, I hate office job and been on the phone, so I work in the shipping area, packing and sealing!!! Love it too! And it gives me the time to get home, change and go to a pole academy 5 minutes away from home. Yesss!!!

It has been almost 15 months since I started pole fitness, and I can do a lot of the poses and I have a good strong grip, great abs and big shoulders….they have become a "decoration", because I still can not do a deaflift nor a handspring. I still do not know why!?!? I can do an awesome butterfly, superman, caterpillar and an horrible handspring from the pole down.:-( Anyone else is having this problem after trying it for sooooo long?
