46 **gulp** here.  I started 10 months ago although I had a 4 1/2 month break.  I do not have any sort of dance or gymnastics background and I am not flexible at all.  I would love to be able to do a split but I don't know if I will ever get there.  I think there should definately be an 'over 40' category for competitions.

Thank you so much Witchess.  I think I will purchase some ASAP.  I hope this works!  I have horribly dry skin that I would pay big money to get rid of.  I've also been having a really hard time sticking to my pole and I'm thinking that dry skin could be the problem.

I've never heard of Corn Husker lotion.  Can anyone tell me if this lotion has a smell to it (fragrant or otherwise)?  I have really bad asthma and anything that has 'perfumy' smell will send me to the hospital.  Also, where do you buy this?  Thanks.  I have SUPER dry skin and I have been hoping to find a lotion that works for me!

    Hi Joanie,

I live in Littleton and I would be interested in a pole buddy.  If you want to email me, perhaps we can work something out.

Thank you for all for your honesty.  I decided I am going to keep going – at leat for a while anyway.  I hope I get that 'desire' to pole back again soon!  I am just doing simple things and slight strength training in the meantime.  Thanks again for all your replys.

I bought two crib mattresses off of Craig's List (one for $5 and one for $8).  I placed them side by side with my pole in between them.  They were great but they slipped away from the pole so I bought really wide elastic and velcro and I placed the velcro on the inside sides of the matresses so they stick to each other and then I place the elastic over the ends to "tie" the matresses together.  The total cost was less than $20.  It is very firm to walk on and very thick to cushion me when I fall.  Heck of a lot cheaper than a regular pole mat!

Oh Tine007, thank you so much for the pointers!  My torso is short, but my legs are unbelievably long too.  It's a good thing too otherwise I'd be VERY short!

I hurt my neck so I'vee been off poling for a while but I'm looking so forward to trying these modifications soon – especially for the CAR.  That has been my bug-a-boo move!

    Thanks again!  You're a gem!

I am asthmatic too.  I can't help you on the weight loss as I am going through the same thing, but I wanted to tell you to see if you can switch inhalers.  I was on one inhaler that also did a "jump start" on your heart.  Talk about being on Crack!!!  Once I mentioned to my doctor about this, he took me off of that one and put me on a different inhaler.  It made all the difference in the world!  If I have to take too much of the new inhaler, I get that "crack" feeling (not as bad though) but under normal use, I might have SLIGHT shaking in my hands for about 15 – 20 minutes, but nothing that really bothers me.

You go grandma!  I'm 45 and a grandmother too.  It's wonderful to see an older woman doing this.  She truly is an inspiration!  Thanks for posting this.

I have lupus, which is an autoimmune disease with arthritis and (amoung other things,) it effects my joints.  I do Veena's strength training lessons.  I am very happy with them.  I haven't noticed any problems with my joints.  In fact, since I started strength training, my arthritis has been SO much better.  I only do strength training 3 times a week.  Resting in between not only helps the muscles recover, but it gives my body time to rest too.  Good luck.

Ditto on what everyone is saying.  You WILL get more and more moves and you will get better and better!  And trust me, eventually, you won't get that pole burn anymore either!  CONGRATS on what you have accomplished!

OMG!  I thought I was the only one with this problem!!!  My arms are SOOO short!  I have trouble reaching the pole for a lot of moves!  I'm pretty sure it's not a matter of flexibility either.  I wish I had some tips, but unfortunately, I don't.  I sure hope someone else does though!

I've gone over the site and I can not find anything that says how many they are going to limit in the classes.  I assume that means that there is no limit.

Boy, that is a LONG time from now!  Why do the pole DVDs have so many problems getting out?  Alethea's DVDs have been delayed too.
