I have never taken ballet, yoga or any sports in my entire life.  I have been stiff as a board and totally inflexible for as long as I can remember.  I am 45 years old and I just got my pole last Thursday.  I have been on this forum and watching Veena's lessons for a couple of weeks so I am VERY new to this.  I decided I was going to get into the splits even if it killed me (and sometimes I think it will!)  I am currently working on the "6 week splits".  I just started week 4 today.  Before I started, I was 5 or 6 inches from even touching the ground while bending at the waist.  Once I am a little warmed up, I can get my fingers flat on the floor.  I have no idea how far away I was from doing the front splits when I started because I only had a 12 inch ruler and I was WAYYYY further away than that!  Currently, I am probably 6 inches away with my left leg in front and maybe 8 inches away with my right leg in front.  I wish I could tell you, "Yeah, I can just plop right down into the spilts" but I can't – not yet anyway!  I am still so happy with my progress.  I am thinking I have gotten at least 14 – 16 inches further down than when I started and I think that isn't bad – especially in only 4 weeks.  As soon as I make it all the way, I will let you know!

Mechie – Every 30 days you will be charged so if you sign up today (May 13) you will be charged $20.  Then on June 13, you will be charged another $20.  On July 13, another $20 and so on.  You can cancel at any time before your next date and you won't be charged after that point.

You can also pay $100 (I think this is the price) and you would get an entire year to access the lessons.  Hope this helps.

What about getting different high heels?  Instead of stilleto heels, what about a more "chunky" type heel?

Where I go, there is about 16 women and there are 7 poles so 2 – 3 people per pole.

Thankfully, I did not have to go into the studio – X Pole shipped it directly to me.  I almost missed Fed Ex – I had to run out for 5 minutes and when I got back home, the driver was walking back to her truck.  I was so lucky!

I can't wait to start poling!

I wanted to scream, hit, kick, cuss, you name it but unfortunately, that's not me.  I wish I wasn't such a push over sometimes but I know I can hold my head high and say I did NOTHING to deserve that behavior.

By the way, it was the manager/part owner I was dealing with!

As far as the lessons go, I signed something that said 'no refunds' so I am sure I won't get any money back from that.  As far as the pole goes, it was something that they ordered and the receipt said it could take up to 3 weeks (or something like that).  My credit card company said I need to wait until that time is up before I can file anything.  They told me that if I had taken the chrome pole and my receipt said titanium, then I could have a claim!  But bad customer service is not enough reason to get your money back!  Damned if you do, damned if you don't!!!

I have decided I am not going to take lessons there.  I know I'm out that money but I don't want to deal with people like that.  I will be reporting this place to the BBB and any other place I can!

I won't let it stop me from poling.  I only wish I had discovered this place first!  I have only been here less than 1 week but I already feel at home.  I feel so welcome here.  Besides, I don't think I could ask for a better teacher than Veena!

I don't need that crap in my life!

Thanks for the help.  You guys really picked me up!

I hope to be that good someday too.  Some of the people are so good.  It is a beautiful thing to watch!

    Thanks for the welcome!

I agree that age really isn't a factor here – I was sort of joking that "yeah, I am on the older side of things"!  That actually was one of the things that really attracted me to here.  What attracted me was it seems that everyone is accepted – no matter what size they are, how old they are, where they live, or anything!

Congrats on being married for 33 years!  I'm always so happy to hear when people have been married for a long time.

What is the Friday chat?  I haven't seen anything about that.

I'm going to be gettting an X Pole, XPERT, Titanium gold.

I found this site while I was on U Tube looking at pole videos and I came across the video of Veena wearing a mustache and getting a lap dance and I thought it was a SCREAM!  I thought to myself, "if someone can be that silly while still giving wonderful instructions, I want to get to know them!"  I am so thankful that the website was at the bottom of that video!

Thanks for having me here!  I am so excited!
