I have a double tab but I’ve never tied the spanset to make it a single. I know people have done it and they just have to be cautious of the extra tab. I love the double…it just feels more fun to me lol!

My swivel and all of my hardware came from aerialessentials.com. Also, I would consult an engineer. Basically, you need someone qualified to tell you how to set it up so that it can support the load.

If you want to attach a span set to a no lab lyra – you just tuck the spanset under the hoop, take one end of the span set and loop it through the other loop of the span set. Tighten and attach to your caribeeners and then to your mount point. The only thing to be aware of with a no lab lyra – understand that the lyra can “get away from you” in certain maneuvers. Just be cautious that this can happen. My studio has a couple rigged that way and when we do certain moves, we don’t use those to practice bc it’s not safe.

I have the both hoops manuals and I love them!! If you haven’t taken a class – I would recommend taking one – that is the best way to learn. However, there are tons of videos on aerialdancing that are useful but she doesn’t break the moves down like Veena does so use with caution!

I am 5 feet. But you will need to sit down against a wall. Measure from your butt to your head, then add about 2 inches – that would be your ideal size. When I did this, it was 30 inches. So I got a 33 inch hoop.

I just bought a new lyra from aerialanimals.com. I really liked them – they did an awesome job! Also – you need to figure out what size you’ll need. I’m really short, and the standard is 36 inches – which doesn’t work for me. Decide on 0,1, or 2 tabs. Then decide how/where you will rig it. That will depend on what kind of equipment you will need to hang it.

I too want to do this. I really like beachbody workouts but it seems when I take the time to do them, I don’t pole or do lyra as much as is like bc it’s overkill for my muscles. I just recently finished another round of P90X and I have missed dancing :-(. I’m trying something new though right now and i hope it works out! I am using veena’s lessons as part of it :-). I’ll put updates on this thread.

Some people get pain from gripping too tightly when they start poling. Perhaps that’s the issue since its a new diameter for you…maybe next time you play on it, focus on lightening the grip :-). And it helps to stretch the palm after using it. Just hold your hand palm up, use your other hand to pull the fingers a little backwards. This helps me with lyra (which is a very small diameter).

    How old are you?
    I am 33 years old.

How long have you been pole-dancing?

I’ve been doing pole for 3 years.

What got you into pole dancing?
I saw a Facebook post of the USPDF highlights and immediately researched on where to learn how to do this amazing stuff!

Why pole dancing and not something else?/What makes pole dancing special to you?

I’ve always loved strength based workouts. I was a cheerleader and dancer when in school and I think pole allows me to get that kind of workout and put my own personality in it. It’s the only type of fitness that I’ve been able to stick with as an adult 🙂

It’s special to me because I can tailor it to how I’m feeling that day. If I’m super pumped that day – I can work on strength and power moves. If I’m feeling sad – I can just put on a song and dance it out. If I’m in a sexy mood – I’ll sex it up! Other workouts don’t really allow you to put your current emotion behind it.

How did you first find out about Studio Veena? How much time do you spend on here? (hours a day/week/month)
How did you choose your tag (AKA User Name)?
I found out about this site through a pole friend at the studio where I was taking classes.
I spend about a few hours a week on here.
I choose my name because when I perform – I go by the name “Story” 🙂

I’ve never had any pain on a 50 or a 40. But my hands still don’t touch on a 40. Could it be that you were gripping too hard on the smaller pole? Does your thumb go over your fingers on the smaller one?

I notice that when I go a week or two with only 1 serving of a good carb per day my stomach will get flat. I eat normally pretty well. For me and my body, I cannot eat oatmeal, more than 1 slice of wheat bread, lots of fruit, pasta, etc. without getting fat around the belly. Try sticking to eating only lean protein, green veggies – limit fruit and whole wheat foods to 1 serving per day. No sugar, no flour…see if that makes a difference. Just give it a week or two and see if your body responds. Just make sure you are getting a good amount of low carb protein everyday to maintain strength for your workouts 🙂
