Both of my kids pole too :-). My son is 6 and my daughter is 4. My son isn’t on it too much anymore bc he’s in school now but he climbs to the top over and over again. He likes to go upside down and do the flag. My little girl is a ballerina at heart, so while I’m doing my stretches, she usually dances around the room, then does poses and spins around the pole. She climbs, but I won’t let her go all the way to the top yet – she’s really tiny for her age. I have so many cute photos and videos of her, but I’m too scared to share them. People are ignorant and they will get flagged or something. They see it as a fireman pole in the house, just like the one at our local playground!

I’m a stay at home mom – aka – domestic goddess! Before kids though, I was a high school math teacher 🙂

Good news – I talked to my lyra instructor and she referred me to a guy she used here in town for the one she has in her house. And it’s for the best price! And she cleared up my rigging questions too! I’m headed to Vegas tomorrow so I’ll be calling him first thing when I get back! So now I have a new question. I am going to have to tape this myself (I want to tape it). What kind of tape should I use? I’ve heard varying opinions on this. I think I can find cute colors of athletic tape at Walmart, but any suggestions?!?!

I have super dry skin in the winter and I just started using – and now I swear by it! Have you tried it? I have a chrome pole, so I know those can be more slippery than others.

Thanks for the info! I think I definitely want hollow steel then :-). Now to try to find someone to help me decide how to mount the thing! There seems to be so many different ways based on the support beam that exists.

Gummypia- I did check them out too. I saw that the hoops are made of thick, not hollow steel and I was wondering how heavy it is to transport. I will need be able to take it down after every session bc it is going in the living room. I know there is a debate on aluminum vs steel. Those that own a hoop – what do y’all think of that? I know I will get hardware made of steel but the actual hoop? Some places use aluminum and others use steel. What are y’all’s experience with the material you have?

Just contacted Brett at fight or flight…can’t wait to hear back! I think I will actually need like a 32 (crazy!). I did the measuring from butt to head while seated and it was at 30. I never realized how short I actually am lol!

I was a little worried about thigh and knee and armpit holds, etc. I kept hearing how difficult they were on a 45 and a 40. However, it is absolutely no different for me. The only weirdness I still have from my 40 is a basic invert. I have no idea why. Climbing feels normal, knee pit holds, CAR feels normal. But when I do a basic invert, I feel like I’m having to work extra hard to hold it. But I guess with more practice, it will feel normal one day. I don’t know if its because I have a small stature or what…but I really feel like its a better fit for my body type.

I started with a 50 chrome and I know have a 40 chrome. I love it! I could’ve probably gone with the 45 which is more standard, but I don’t compete or anything so it’s not of importance to me. My hands are freakishly small and don’t wrap around a 45 so that’s why I went with the 40. Is there a 45 or 40 you could play around with near you?

Mine is not tingly and I have it on both knee pits in the exact same spot. It’s like an extreme tight feeling (very different from an intense stretch) that will not loosen. But like I mentioned earlier, massage is painful but it works wonders!

I’m glad to hear its not just me! I don’t have my splits right now but when I was younger and was flexy, I could still feel that tension. I don’t feel it in a pike stretch though…I only feel it in straddle, front and middle splits. But straddle stretch is by far the worst pain in that spot for me!

I have tight hamstrings and have always had that little pain on the back of the knee (and it’s also more on the inner side of the back of the knee). I actually have been able to lessen it by foam rolling that tiny spot before and after stretching. It is uncomfortable to foam roll that part, but I just breathe through it! I’ve been stretching consistently now for almost 3 months and I’m just now noticing less pain in that area when in a straddle or split position 🙂
