I have an x-pole too and find it quite easy to put up. It was a bit confusing the first time (watch the DVD instead of reading the instruction book which is confusing) but once youve done it once you will know how.

The hardest part is getting it straight. Because the bottom moves it can go on a lean really easy.If im putting it up on my own I tighten till it can stand on its own, but can still move if i pulled on it, and hop off the chair and check its straight and if not I give it a pull to where it should be then tighten it properly.

One thing though, sometimes the pieces get locked together. So if you are going to leave it up, I recommend using the stick things to untighten the pieces just a little after you use it. Like just enough to know that they are not locked.

Just to add something to the comments about visualisation… When I was first learning I couldnt get the carousel as I was trying to put too much weight on the lower arm. When I was lying in bed later that night I was visualising what the move would feel like if I was doing it. Like imagining my upper arm taking all the weight and the lower arm just being used to push my body away from the pole. Next morning I got up and could do it first try. So I think visualisation really works!!

Please be really careful when you take them apart!! Using the rods, it ended up bending the rods but also the actual pole around the little holes. One part of the hole now sticks out on one side, and bends in on the other side, so now every time I have my ankle against it and swinging down it hurts due to a bit of metal thats pushed out! And this was a x-pole.

I think one of the reasons why we are unsure about performing for our boyfriends is because they have most likely all been to strip clubs and therefore seen a professional dancer in action. It is scary because we think we will be compared to the professional dancer, and I know for me, there is no way I would be as good. The thought of being judged / compared doesnt really lead to a confident performance. My advice is to make a few videos of yourself dancing first, and let him see them and gauge his reaction. If he is encouraging and positive, then this will make you feel more confident for the actual performance.

    Hope this helps!
