Glad you're here and enjoy poling! It gets highly addictive. The biggest commitment is buying a pole. It's pricey, but it's something that can help keep you in good shape.
There's so much fun stuff on this site, and so many people that have great advice sometimes it's hard to pull yourself away from it. I hope you accomplish your goals and are able to grow in dance!

Everyone has a certain way of learning and style that's unique to them. Kicking into inverts is a good way to balance and use momentum when you're not fully ready to put full weight in one certain area.
Going back to the basics always helps refine those skills and can lead to new ways of doing something. Do what works best for yourself and your comfort style.

I think it has something to do with seeing the big picture of what a person's goals are. It's easy to think of the end result, but even harder to put in the work, time, energy, and pain. There are so many in between steps that need to happen.
The name of the book is Drive by Daniel H. Pink, it goes through two processes of motivation that has been studied in the workplace. It says there are two different types of motivation. Motivation by bribes and personal desire, where people in charge aren't telling someone to do something for a payoff.
I actually had that problem of helping others before myself. Still do in some aspects of my life. It's usually harder to help someone if you can't help yourself first. It's all good, but you have to find a good balance that fits in with everything. That's a good goal to set and can transition into many other aspects of your life as well!
