As another corset maker I’m not going to repeat what the other two ladies have already said….but you might have more luck looking on Corset Story than on eBay. As far as online purchases go – eBay and PayPal are very secure…I buy and sell a few times a year with no problems. Also – If you have a Citi Bank credit card they can provide you with a one time use “ghost” card number for online shopping so you’re not even using your real card number.

Ramona – you’re already better than someone who refuses to try!

Exactly what Veena & Mindy said….I kept going to beginner pole classes up until about 34 weeks then took ballet conditioning classes until about 36 with baby #2….I didn’t try anything new and modified when I needed too (not rolling on to my stomach, limited floor work on my back, etc). I was lucky that my instructor and the other lady (it was a SMALL daytime class) were Moms so we all had a good laugh and renamed some moves after I said I looked like a turtle stuck on its back one day!

By keeping active with this last pregnancy I kept my weight gain to a healthy 28 lbs and not the 75lbs I gained with my son. The difference in L&D was insane. Miserable, epidural & threatened with a C-section with the first vs. a very quick, easy, water birth with the second. My recovery time was much quicker too….I was discharged at 24 hours, at the mall the next day and back at the studio taking silks and pole about 4 weeks after she was born.

I really look forward to poling thru the next pregnancy, when ever that happens….with all the other challenges a pregnancy can sometimes present I see no reason to give up something that makes you feel good and keeps you in shape both mentally and physically which can prevent SO many things that get “solved” with drugs…but I can feel myself going off on my “pregnancy in America” rant so I’ll just stop here 😛

Good luck to you and congratulations to you & your family!

The Floorwork DVD is just plain HOT! Can’t wait to have an hour to myself to work on it (yay kids on summer vacation!!!!). I really like how there is no pole involved at all – since my pole is in my garage – with no air conditioning and temps in the high 90s I start melting just thinking about going out there.

For those of you that aren’t fans of the music – turn on the closed captions feature on your DVD player then mute it. You’d have to read while stretching but just a thought. The music isn’t my favorite but its growing on me….

New thread topic: what do you say when asked about your bruises? (I giggled and gave my midwife a business card)

Reading all these posts makes me think of the demographic of my studio…mostly mid/late 20’s & up….professional, educated, middle class ladies. A lot of Moms and even a few grandmas….so much for the stigma that all pole dancers are dumb, trashy wannabe strippers or young girls wanting attention in bars…..

Proud to be part of such a strong, educated, supportive community…..

    IM PROUD TO POLE!

Laundry and dishes….aka Full Time Mom…LOL. I dabble as a seamstress – costumes, custom corsetry and specializing in 18th century reproduction clothing. I also teach pole conditioning classes, supervise open studio time and sub here and there for other instructors.

But I went to school for esthetics, worked as a make-up artist, flight attendant, had kid one, went back to working in salon then opened my own salon, became a single mom, worked as a production manager/ pharmacy tech for a long-term care pharmacy then moved and went into medical billing…got remarried and now happily stay at home doing a little bit of everything.

Mine is in my garage…but I have electricity out there. I have a little heater in the winter but it is still really too cold to be out there in anything below about 50 F because not only is it too cold to be wearing next to nothing but the pole is slick and its just not safe….I have a concerete floor, which you probably do too –  not friendly on the knees or very forgiving for slip up when learning. I am looking to get some 1/2" foam floor tiles (the kind often used in kiddie play rooms). Whatever you do always make sure safety is your first priority 🙂

Thats where I am…I was thinking to order a new pair then do some reinforcing stiches in a "X"  pattern across the width of the top strip (which seems to take the most beating)….Or perhaps I can experiment with using some strips of one of the kids old rain coats to replace it….also tempeted to just cut off the top portion and deal with bruised shins. LOL…I'll see what I can mess about with this weekend and update everyone interested 🙂
