If you get the right material, and you use heavy duty staples, you can remove it when you move, with no damage.

ps- anything you consider Adding between ceiling surface and xpole silicone rim must be secured to the ceiling to become part of it. do Not attempt to just sandwich something between them without securing properly.

Lots of people make something that goes between the ceiling surface and silicone if the ceiling surface is not solid or rigid enough for the silicone to grip tightly. I have seen a few different things which work. I made a wood square and covered it with contact paper to create a good seal between the silicone and plastic. You can also paint the wood with a gloss paint. You can install a ceiling medallion with a flat surface and you will eliminate the air space preventing a good seal.

@Bassaddict – that message means your moviemaker is crashing or not loading properly. close all other programs you are using, try a restart, and try to check your 'task manager' to make sure you close the application completely b4 trying to run it again. You might want to Do a scan to clean up any malware…if you haven't done it on schedule recently. unfortunately moviemaker is chronic for causing conflicts on the PC with other apps. It is also useful to change your system settings to "run background apps" as your priority when using WMM or it has a habit of freezing or hanging your whole system. I dont use it because it has too many issues. but if you have to use it, make these arrangements first. uninstall/reinstall may be your best bet if its not loading and you've never even used it before. best to just start fresh in that case.

@Legs4Days – search your "program files" folder to be sure it's not already installed. The desktop icon may have just lost it's link to the location of the .exe (the application).  IF you find you don't have it–> just download and follow the directions to install.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker#t1=overview

@Mummy – Great choice. you will Love MAGIX. It has so many cool effects that are easy enough for a beginning editing enthusiast! Have fun and DO let us know how you like it.   For the iPad – You should be able to get iMovie for the iPad for only 5bux as long as you have enough space. The tradeoff is, editing on a touch screen could be very frustrating. You'd have to keep it simple, I'd imagine.

Awesome tips AND video! Thank you Veena.  I just started advancing after a long time taking it light building strength and flexibility but not focusing on the small parts (hand and wrist)  I have a left arm nerve injury so your video just reminded me, I have to keep doing my PT exercises.  I spend most of my time on strength and flexibility before I even go near the pole so I don't strain muscle groups unevenly…but I have not been doing isolated stuff for the hand.  *hangs head in shame

No matter how much I can train, I have always had tiny wrists so, i MUST keep up with your advice since i am using the 40 now.  I am sure this will help other people too.

see? it takes the attention of a personal trainer to remind us what we are doing wrong.

@Legs4Days – software- I forgot to give you the next few. Final Cut and Pinnacle are very popular amongst amateur filmmakers and hobbyist friends of mine. I do not use them but have tested Final Cut and it was an awesome looking interface. There are tons of applications, BUT the ones I list for you are designed for full editing capabilities , not just cut/paste, linear editing and are compatible with other apps for importing effects. so there you go..a few more!

I am actually a filmmaker/editor/special effects person and I would suggest for your first step beyond Windows movie maker, you have 2 best choices.

    1.  IF you can use a mac for editing, you will find the most user friendly yet feature rich app is iMovie (you can DL it free)

    2. IF you're a PC user, the next step can be Sony Vegas (more difficult to learn), or MAGIX (beginner friendly with alot of presets). PC users don't have much choice beyond windows movie maker for a free videoeditor, BUT it is worth searching for a digital copy you can buy for less.

    3. @Legs4Days – The best starter tutorials for movie maker I've even used for students is Papa John and TechEase:  http://www.papajohn.org/MM2-Online-Tutorials.html

http://etc.usf.edu/te_win/movies/windowsmm.html – make sure you have updated java/flash and permissions set to be able to view the videos here. ..hope this is a good start for you.

Most of my own video and film projects are not online but I have a small collection at Vimeo if you are interested. let me know and I'll shoot you the link privately.

you can get carpet protector sheets on rolls-cut a slit and a hole in middle for your pole. I did this once and did it with mats too. I slide fine on the puzzle piece mats-they have a shiny surface so you actually DO slide even when practicing a bridge. they are cheap and fit together to make any size around your pole.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cheap-Plastic-Vinyl-Carpet-Protector-Heavy-Duty-Hallway-Runner-27-Inches-Wide-/120987766148

I paid even less for the rubber mat at samsclub. both work for me but you might like the plastic better. I even use matts over my wood floor, because my knees are bad.

I find that "hitting the Wall" with pole for me, has alot to do with NOT having a SPOTTER when I need one for learning new moves. Try everything from the FLOOR first until you have adequate strength.   I'd follow recommendations from Veena or be sure to keep stretching and working on Strength training before trying new inverted holds and always from the floor first.

Wow, this post makes me think I need gloves With Tack. I have gloves which worked initially just to help me get used to holding the pole until I gained enough callus on my palms but they are now USELESS against humidity and I also have a very slippery stainless pole. i see so many people use gloves but perhaps they have the Tacky ones…gonna check them out.

  • I agree with everyone – Listen to your body-muscles need time to repair between workouts-using the off day for cardio or strength/balance training can keep you going but give muscle groups their rest period- Like circuit training to target muscle groups in a rotation.  Soreness will be part of your life while working your body to it's potential flexibility, but pushing too hard is actually going to injure muscles setting you Back – so perhaps using heat/parafin wax, warming the muscles beforehand and Ice AFTER-or shorten the routine until your soreness subsides. EAT carbs with high quality protein 4:1 ratio directly after intense workouts to aid in muscle repair and counteract the damage being done when glycogen stores are low. If you're not feeding your body proper amounts of protein and carbs, you will be breaking down muscle to feed muscle..NOT GOOD..and your organs can suffer damage.
