Thanks for your input Veena! Is the type of permanent mount similar to the xpole block perm mount? I don’t mind that so at least can take the pole down if necessary even though the mount stays up. I’m also wondering why all the 38mm are BRASS it seems like where I’ve seen past convos….is there some mysterious reason? Most people I’ve heard from weren’t in love with brass in general so this seems odd 🤷‍♀️

You can contact liscensed/insured contractors and handymen on Angie’s list. You could find the same type of people in newspapers or crsigslist but do your due diligence. From my experience it’s not cheap but I also had more than one installed and they had to go through the attic etc. You should be able to get a free quote and can decide if it’s worth it. To me it was worth the price for safety.

I had a contractor who did some odd jobs for me – one of which was installing my perm mounts. While he did reinforce from the attic I think you could still have someone come out to quote you and decide if the project is safe and how to go about it. An insured contractor won’t move forward with something that’s not safe for you. You could also try calling XPole for recommend installation. I know it’s hard to get a hold of them but once they answer they should be able to help. I think they even note on their website to contact them if the pole is that high. Good luck!!

Hopefully I’m not spamming but my posts aren’t showing anyway the rest of that was…I know that’s easier said than done!! I’ve looked for someone to practice with for so long since I learn better with a partner or group. I think I finally convinced someone and hope to pull out of my pile rut. I don’t really know if that was helpful but just know you are not alone!

I def understand where you are coming from. I don’t want to compete either its not my personality. I don’t think you need to compete – some people are just motivated in this way so it works for them. All those amazing competitors started somewhere though even if they left no evidence lol. You can sometimes find old footage and see pole stars with flexed feet, missed tricks and off beat choreo which can be encouraging to watch knowing where they are now. Other A-MAZING polers refuse to compete because it’s stressful for them rather than motivating. Have you ever thought about teaching? Sometimes motivating others can inspire personal growth. Not everyone comes by pole naturally and you’d be worth your weight in gold if you could teach with your past struggles in mind – students out there will appreciate an instructor who can relate and teach this way towards different learning abilities. I wish there were more who could/would teach and break down instead of just show and go. Or maybe finding a pole buddy to schedule practice time with would help you stick with it

If you like the other two you mentioned then the floor work, heels DVDs will not disappoint. Are there a couple things that could maybe be better here and there? Probably but it’s way better than another DVD that was way too expensive and Alethea’s pretty much DO what they say in the description – and it’s Alethea! My main wish was that the end routines were more broken down but you will still love them and not mind watching again to learn 😃

Hello @polekitkat that is awesome good luck to you! Do you have any tips or lessons learned from the first time around you could share? I’m hoping to open a studio in the future!

Some studios have “pole-cation” type packages for visitors. I think body and pole in NY and pretty sure I’ve seen something for visitors at the chrome bar in Nashville. You could also visit during a pole convention or consider what competitions are going on – usually that means lots of workshops being offered by visiting instructors. I have seen some pole retreats but they looked mostly like instructors getting together or very advanced polers so not sure on that one.

I feel the same about my POC 😩 Someone told me to look up towards the ceiling when scooting…didn’t really help me but maybe for you!

  • Maybe you could recruit from a place that does gymnastics or dance or even yoga. Just a thought but I’m sure those places have people that could pick up a second job or know of someone looking. Or have you tried looking on xpole or ace websites? I think they have listings of certified instructors.

  • It sounds like you are paying attention to be relatively healthy already – talking to your doctor as mentioned would be really helpful to test/figure out the best thing for your personal situation. Certain things like sugar (in chocolate as well as generally everything in a package including alcohol), unethical sources of meat (for example did you know tilapia can’t be caught in the wild & are basically raised on literal poop diet or that many cows are fed candy as their nutrition – I’m sure in turn this also impacts whoever eats those animals), dairy, or wheat can affect each individual differently causing things like inflammation, irritable symptoms, or intollerance (not necessarily “allergy”). Those are some of the big ones to consider limiting and I’m sure are in the fodmap plan mentioned above. Since you’ve mentioned flexibility obviously inflammation is unwelcome & also taking care of your joints is necessary – fish oil (or veg versions) will help with both of these, cissus is also a good idea. Of course overall diet is key by limiting those irritable factors, getting your protein/aminos for recovering & strengthening muscles, and focusing on a lot of veggies + fruit.

I’ve been wondering this too! Also how to edit/shorten a song by taking certain parts out if anyone knows.
