Oh I totally agree with https://www.studioveena.com/users/view/bcb9880e-d89d-11df-ab19-12313b090e12 , you need to know how to apply the KT tape for it to be effective!!!! As i said, it was my PT that did it for me!

To be honest you're probably opening quite a can of worms asking which poles are the grippiest. There seem to be oppposing opinions about stainless steel and chrome all the time. Some people prefer SS and some Chrome. BUT if you're getting an X-Pole it doesn't matter cause they don't actually do SS. I've never poled on Brass but the general consensous seems to be that it's very grippy in comparison to Titanium Gold and Chrome. I have poled on TG and found it more grippy than Chrome. Sometimes though the gold colour fades from the TG pole but the actual grip seems to stay the same.
Remember though, you can always use grip aides. I used to be SO opposed to using them until I discovered that they REALLY do help. I don't use them all the time. In fact I make a point of only using it if I'm doing a performance or a difficult new move. My hands are super clammy when I'm nervous or doing something new and I recently discovered Dry Hands which seems to work absolute WONDERS for me. Before that I was using Mighty Grip but it was never 100% reliable for me. Your best bet is to try out a few different types of Grip Aides.
In conclusion, EVERYONE in different! Different finishes and different grip aides affect different people in different ways! (See the way I'm hammering home the word, 'different' there!)

I use an alcohol and water solution in a spray bottle that sprays a light mist! Just make sure that you dry the pole thoroughly!!

My first pole was a 50mm Chrome X-Pole, spinning & static. I still use 50mm Chrome X-Poles in my studio all the time. I have to say though, I have small hands so I would prefer 45mm but I've managed quite well with the 50mm's thus far! I will eventually replace them though.
I've also used 40mm X-Poles and love them too but I think my favourite is 45mm.
I've tried a TG X-Pole and liked it too, it was a teeny bit harder to spin on TG on static mode but lovely on spinny mode. I've never used a Brass pole so I can't give my opinion on that.
The only thing you should DEFINITELY do is make sure to choose an X-Pert because even if you don't like spinny pole right now you might find that you want to do it at a later stage so pay that extra bit of money so that you have the choice.
    I don't envy your decision! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

2 years ago I pulled my left hamstring (flexible side) dropping into the splits. I didn't really feel it at the time but the next morning I could barely walk. After a while I went to a physio but she didn't do much to fix it besides showing me some exercises to stretch it out. (She did realign my hips though which was cool!) After about 6 months I was finally able to split as much as I had been before but it took about 9 months to not feel it anymore!!
In April I pulled my right hamstring (inflexible side) by lifting my hands off the floor while in the splits, obvioulsy before I was ready. Straight away I called my neuromuscular therapist and he told me to ice it, 6 mins on and 20 mins off and then bandage it up. I went to him for treatment and he reeeeeeeeally sped up the healing process. I was unable to rest as I was a week away from my first competition and I'm also an instructor so he taped my hamstring with some KT tape. It's an awesome tape that protects injuries but it's flexible so you can still move. He also gave me stretching and strenghtening exercised and LOADS of awesome advice to avoid it happening again! I am now almost totally better! So my advice is to seek treatment if you can. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Music is a HUGE thing to me too and for me one of the main things is that I have to actually love the song that I choose to perform to. Yes, I want to pick something that the audience can appreciate but if I don't love the song myself why would I want to continuously dance and practice to it? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I actually have a fairly diverse music collection but I choose songs that move me; I can't just like the song, I have to LOVE it!!! BUT it also has to be a song that I am able to dance to. For example: I'm not able to dance to super fast songs. I don't think I have the energy or the stamina. I have done a few performances but two of them in particular have been important performances. I have another one coming up in a week and a half. For my first performance I picked a slow, sensual song, Kings of Leon – I Want You. It was a great song and I had choreographed a really good routine but for my first time I probably should have cut the music a little. It was 5 mins long! For the 2nd performance, which was a competition, I picked another slow song, Lana Del Rey – Video Games. For the performance I have coming up I picked Lady Gaga – You and I. It actually took me aaaaaaaaaaaages to choose the music this time cause I wanted to dance to something different, something that was a little more upbeat but of course it had to be a song that I'd love!
I don't think the music you choose will define you for the rest of your pole dance life if you don't want it to. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
