Thank you loopielou! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
My friend really wants to get back in to pole dancing but she’s moving back to London to teach over there and she really wants to find good classes. She’s researching that place you posted and she’s looking at 1 or 2 other places too. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif -

I think that comment was perfect. Its not a definate dig at her but it might get her thinking! I would be upset too if I was you. If somebody had not only taught me cool pole stuff but also GIVEN me a pole I would have that person’s name all over the photos and my profile, thanking him/her! Yeah sure she she had to practice to be able to do those moves but you gave her some foundation and A POLE so you deserve a little credit! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif

When I was trying knee hold first I could never seem to get my inside leg high enough on the pole to get an adequate grip. So one day while trying double knee hold I suddenly had a "Eureka" moment and decided to try regular knee hold from gemini. I felt that maybe going into gemini might increase the grip behind my knee. And you know what? It worked!!! Veena’s video helped me too because I watched it and remembered that she had said to push my hips forward and cross my feet at the ankles. Here, have a look at my video if you want. Sorry about the dorkyness! I was just mega excited!!! Ignore the move I do first, thats my feeble attempt at the double knee hold (genie).

P.S. You need to be pretty confident in gemini before you try this and always have cushions around the pole in case you fall. -
The pain and bruising will definately go away and you’ll be left with a lovely knee hold! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Hello and welcome to the site! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
I dont mean to be Miss Negative but PLEASE be careful on that Peek-a-Boo. I agree with Meleania, start saving for a new pole! Those poles are dangerous no matter what you do with them! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
Its TOTALLY normal for you to feel sore after your first few times on the pole but I assure you it’ll get better! Its not because you’re unfit, its just because your muscles arent used to this type of exercise! But they’ll get used to it!
Best of luck poling and again; be really careful what you do on that pole, they’re not built for doing anything strenuous!! -
SissyBuns I LOVE your reply! Infact I love all the replies!
Maney you should wear whatever you want! Ive NEVER had a flat tummy, even before I had my son so yes it bothers me that I have belly rolls when I invert but you know what?? The only way for me to work on that is to dance and the only way for me to know if Im doing it properly is to post videos here. We dont judge anyone here! We’re all different shapes and sizes here so nobody has the right to judge! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif -
Veena Im inclined to agree with you on this one! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Seems my rant was a little unfair!!! I just read that the reason x-pole had to increse prices is because steel prices have gone up. Apparently they havent changed prices in 4 years so…

I think practicing on both sides is very very important! And the sooner you start to do it the better! If you leave it too long, like me, it can be disheartening to have to go back to the very start and learn every move on your weaker side. Im still doing it though because I know it’ll be worth it! I only started learning on both sides a couple of months ago but Im already seeing a difference. It doesnt take me as long to learn a new move on my dominant side now because Ive increased the grip and strength of my non-dominant side! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Best of luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif -
Hello and welcome! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
All the things you are doing in preparation for your pole are great things to be doing. I dont know what your flexibility is like but might I recommend that you work a little on that as it will help you with making some of the spins and tricks even more polished and pretty.
As jennydacat has said, X-Pole and Lil Mynx seem to be the most recommended pole. I have an x-pole and I love it. In the Forums there is a section called ‘Dance Poles’, you should check that out.
Best of luck! We look forward to seeing your progress.
