Thanks Lola, that was very helpful. I always had one hand on the pole. Sometimes it was above the hooked leg and sometimes under so I suppose you could say I did cupid and star. Wow that was super fast!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif You’ll get used to the grip! We use 50mm X-poles in the studio I take lessons in and when I got my pole (a 50mm x-pole!) it felt less grippy than the studio pole which I couldnt understand cause they’re the same pole but after a while I got used to the grip of my own pole and I find the grip of the studio poles less grippy some times! Its all about what you’re used to. Maybe Im wrong, I dunno.

The girl who teaches me pole dance is now gonna start a hooping class!! Yaaaay! I was only doing it for 5 mins on Saturday but I could totally feel it in my abs, it was so cool!! -

Im the least flexible person ever!! Im working on it at the moment though. One of the most important pieces of advice about stretching, that I got here, is that you have to make sure you warm up before you stretch. Some suggestion that Ive gotten: Do a 5 minute jog or aerobic work out or get a hot bath or you could do like I do and just stretch after a good pole work out. Veena has some stretching videos in her lessons and I think Fleur has one posted here too.

Pole Dancing is great, I love it.
When it comes to buying a pole you gotta be so careful. DO NOT buy a Pole Pro Dance Pole, a Carmen Electra pole, a Pole Aerobics pole or a Peek-a-Boo pole. I dont know how much these poles retail for in the US but in Ireland they cost about €60 to €100. They are really badly made and wont be able to withstand most spins, much less inverts or climbs! It is definately worth it to invest in a good pole!! I cannot stress that enough. I have a 50mm X-Pole and its brilliant. It can be set to static or spinning and has never budged when I was on it. There are other options too like the Lil Minx Poles. A few of the members here have them. I dont know anything about them really so I cant comment.
