    @ calipolepixie,

Thank you! Floorwork is an important way to determine how you move when you're not on the pole and I'm definately going to work on that. I have to say tho, I never thot I'd be much into floorwork, but now that I'm open to it, its a whole new world of experience! 🙂

    @ katana,

No, unfortunately there are no pole studios closer to me than in SA that I know of. It's truly a bummer. If there was, I'd be able to interact with all these different polers and make friends and stuff hehe. Of course, that's why studioveena is here, for people who don't have access to that or just want some online interaction with other polers. So I'm super thankful for this site because even without a studio I can meet people and share stuff! xD…

Gee, thanx Autumn Sky, for real. It's very encouraging. Thats exactly what I'm going to do. I'm going to build strength, improve floorwork, and flexibility. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who hesitated to open up about my passion for pole because of the fear of what those around me would think. In the meantime, I'm gonna have to keep myself busy. Haha I might even look into a temporary sport or something! 🙂 Maybe swimming or something.

Ok so I had sorta a last minute change of plans. I have decided that the most convenient pole for my needs right now is the X-pole. I will be ordering mine on Monday (SS or Chrome). Reason being, I currently live in Africa because of my parents' job and x-pole has a headquarters in South Africa which is nearer than the UK or America which are the only places to get Platinum Stages poles. This would cost less and make the delivery faster as I would like to start polling as SOON as possible cuz I'm so pumped! I also figured that if I needed a replacement or to return it for any reason, I could just send it to S.A. instead of the states. Also, I was only going to get a "top loading" PS because their bottom sleeves are flimsy and dangerous (I'm not bashing their poles in fact it was a very hard descision for me to choose x-pole over them because I like their design better). However, X-pole allows for zero problematic bottom loading as they have a more high tech sleeve that fits into place without leaving any seams on the pole. I also think that at ceiling heights of 10 1/2 feet, x-joints are another necessity haha. They seem like less of a hassle than screwing threads. Plus an x-pole comes with a carryong case and PS sells them seperately and they're more expensive. I figured after all that, hey, it's just my FIRST pole. I plan on polling for many years and my next pole will most likely be a PS anyway so no worrys. As long as I can do something that I love that's really all that matters. I'll let ya'll know how it goes 🙂

Wow. Thanks for all the advice. You all are extremely helpful! xD   It seems like more of you prefer a solid 1-piece over a multi. I would so do it except I have no idea where I'd put the thing wen i take it down. Plus I want to be able to take it with me on long trips (we take alot of road trips). I guess my only new concern is the metal flakes in the eye thing like Charley said. I guess I'd have to just see how that goes. Everyone's experience is diff right? I also think the one-piece poles are cheaper too…bummer. Guess I gotta make a choice here…

    What up Veeners?!

So I much anticipate getting my first pole for Christmas! However, I need to top off my research befor drawing a final conclusion. I've narrowed my pole options down to Platinum Stages and x-pole (although I like platinum stages better from the look). Lil Mynx is just not an option for me, and I don't like the mirror finish on their ss poles, not to mention I just don't like the design. X-pole seems good, although I'm not fond of that big dome @ the. It's kinda funny looking but from what I hear it's the big secret behind x-pole's award winning stability. I then came aross Platinum Stages Extreme Super Poles, and I have to say that their design is the most appealing. I'm picturing an extreme super pole (2-in) stainless multi-piece in my room and it sounds right. I just had a few questions. Has anyone had any troubles with that skin threatening sleeve at the bottom? I get chills imagining me SLICING my thighs all over the thing. I hear a few people have gotten pinched or even cut by it. If you don't know what I'm talking about then here:  http://platinumstages.3dcartstores.com/zoomify.asp?catalogid=281&img=assets/images/sleevedown I think I'll save myself the horror of hell and just get a top loading pole (which they also offer). I wasn't to thrilled of the loading showing at the top, but then after looking at a sample of AerialGypsie's  https://www.studioveena.com/photos/view_photo/4ecd5f1c-461c-4d93-9e4c-64680ac37250 it doesn't look so bad after all. Anyone own the new EXTREME super pole? What are your opinions? And to all those who don't like platinum stages poles: Yes I know that the top and bottom base peices are made of "bulletproof" plastic and not metal along with the cover sleeves which won't be a prob since I'm not getting one with those. But those are the only plastic parts right? I did hear one rumor about their poles having a fake chrome sort of paint that chips on the poles themselves which sounds kinda contradicting considering the poles are supposed to be stainless steel anyway. I also know that stainless is slipperier then chrome but I hear it works good in hot & humid climates. This is not an issue considering I live in Tz, Africa, so grim shouldn't dissagree with me there. However, I also hear the humidity might cause the plastic paint on the top and bottom peices to bubble and chip off. I guess that's not a HUGE issue as long as the pole it safe right? Anyway the last question I had was regarding the multi-piece option. I want a multi-piece since I plan on transporting it and taking it down from time to time. I hear awhile back the had some problems with seams where the pole pieces connect. Are they better now? I like the idea of a one piece but I'd have no place to put it when i take it down. So yeah, as much feedback as possible would be more than appreciated! thnx. 🙂
