I love Empyrean, but she's over an hour away from me and not convenient to public transportation (I sold my car). Messaged gliterhips and a few others so hopefully I'll hear back soon.  Thanks!

I really wish studios worked closer together.   Each studio has something to different to offer.   One may have instructors that are good at tricks and not so good at floorwork and another may have instructors who are very dancey.  As a student, I'd like to be able to flow from studio to studio based on my needs as a student.  I simply just have not seen this mentality in Ohio, but I'm still hopeful!

@LoneStarDiva I had the exact same problem.  I couldn't use the foam roller on my IT band without wincing in pain.  Keep going because it goes away and then you'll love doing your foam roller exercises.

@veena….It’s been quite awhile since I’ve gone through the lessons. I’ll check them out again tonight. I do remember watching the Getting Started about a year or so ago, but will review it as well. I think I get stuck because I look ahead at all the cool moves I want to do and then don’t have the patience to learn the basic moves 🙂

@chemgoddess…thanks for the technical info. I’ll check it out and get something this weekend.

    Thanks so much ladies!

Hey Ottersocks….any plans to do group sessions?  I checked out the book awhile back but it was kind of confusing so I didn't really do anything with it.

@MissKitty83…I had the same problem for awhile.  I kept stretching and even though I'm still tight (mostly b/c I'm not consistent in my stretching regimen), I no longer have those feelings in my feet or knees.  I was told that it had something to do with the nervous system and that it was safe to continue to stretch (actually, very helpful), but not to do it to the point of pain or severe discomfort.  I did gentle yoga for awhile and that definitely helped so you may want to give it a try.   It would probably  help if you buy a band and use it in the position you talked about (lying on your back).  That way, you can just stretch to the point that you can keep your leg straight and hold it there with the band.  Eventually you'll be able to bring your leg closer to your chest.  It takes time.  By the way, I find deep slow breathing to be very helpful when stretching because it keeps my mind and body very relaxed.  Let me know how it goes!

Scandalicious, sorry to hear about your troubles.  Everyone has given you good advice on job hunting, but I wanted to talk to you about your home.  There's a program from a company called American Homeowner Preservation in Cincinnati OH.  They help people like you keep their homes.  In a nutshell, they negotiate a short sale with your bank and then they find an investor to pay the bank off.  You then make lease payments to the investor and you can buy your home back from the investor in 1-5 years for a predetermined amount.    The lease payments are less than you'd pay if you were to rent an apartment and you get to stay in your home.  Check out their website at ahphelp.com.   Good luck to you.

Thanks for the info ladies. Not sure if my wrist probs are pole related because when it first started hurting I hadn’t been on the pole for a few days. I tried taking a week off and that still didn’t do it. I think my grips are fine, but I’ll ask my pole instructor to pay extra close attention to see if she sees anything. I hope it gets better soon!

The cheapest one I have seen was $150 but it was only a 2" mat. The $199 one that is 4" is a good deal. Or you can try searching craigslist for gym mats. I have the foam floor mats as my first layer and then these huge pillows that I got at Big Lots that I use when trying new stuff.

Thanks for the info. I’ll give craigslist a shot. A gym mat sounds like a good idea because I’d prefer something flat I can walk on as opposed to walking on pillows.

I found mine at a hardware store. They’re meant for cushioning feet on a work space to be stood on all day. They look like giant puzzle pieces with the way they fit together on the sides, but it means they can be attached all the way around the pole. They were $10 for a pack of 4 at Harbor Freight and I’m pretty sure you could buy them anywhere. Get 2 packs and you can layer them, stack one on top of the other, with multiple packs you could create a whole padded surface which would be great for floorwork.

I’m going to the hardware store today. Thanks!

Hey guys I feel embarrassed about this but here is the thing….if any of you have any old clothes you are giving away, like regular not dance clothes, I would gladly take them if u would want to send…clothes are just something we can’t afford and haven’t for a while…if u have something u are already giving away at least u would know its going to someone who would really appreciate it…I have some stuff thats too small I could trade possibly…..like I said its embarrassing but I don’t have any family or friends my size to ask https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

Hey there, what size are you? I have some things I need to get rid of that I can’t fit anymore. Let me know.
