1000 calories per hour seems really high. That’s 16.6 calories per minute. The average adult runner only burns approx. 10 calories per minute.
oh when i said "an hour or so" i should have put something more like 2 ish hours. 1000 cals per hour is definitely crazy i totally agree. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I wear my Polar heart rate monitor to class sometimes and usually during an hour long class I will burn upwards of 200 calories. Thats with a good 15-20 minute warm up/stretch and mostly basic spins and dancing. When im practicing on my own…an hour or so of inverts/climbs/spins/dancing…ill burn around 1000.
Keep in mind though that everyone is different! You should think about getting a heart rate monitor that has a calorie counter! Mine was only like $60!

If you send in a vid Sarah youre considered in. For the ultimate division there are about 7-8 applicants last time i heard. $75 is pretty steep but it will be alot of exposure and a whole lotta fun! I hope you decided to do it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

Liz Lounge has a pole (with railing around it) for the gogo dancers but the pole we will be on is a 25 foot xpole (provided by Vertical Fitness) which is going onto the main stage =)

I honestly dont know what to think about this topic…
For one, the news lady was RUDE!!! Ignorant to the max!
I love my pole, I will defend my pole dancing till the end! I defend it because people are STILL SO AGAINST IT! So i can see how most people are waaaay against bringing children into the studio when "adult" pole fitness classes still arent widely accepted. With that said, I think it would be a great way to tackle the childhood obesity problem since pole fitness is so dang fun! The way im looking at it is…most times when a studio has already been established with a 24-45y/o target age range, the studio is going to have some sexuality associated with it (beit the decorations, the names of the classes, the logo). When I think of a childrens fitness/gymnastics class I think bright colors, blue mats, and happy goofey music lol.
I dont knoooooowwwwww.
The maturity of the child is also important…some 12-16 year olds may walk into the class room and immediately start grinding the poles….kids these days…and trust me, i know a couple of ’em (my lil bro is 16).
The studio i teach at is considering teaching 12-16 y/o’s and im just scared that we will get lots of bad juju for it since Texas is such a conservative state…ppl just dont get "pole fintess". I would put my kids in pole fitness classes definitely and I guess i would prepare myself to defend my childrens fitness regimen from other moms.
dont hate me…lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

You should try doing some pilates! If you go to an actual class, your instructor can help explain where/how to engage your core. Ive learned so much in my pilates class and its greatly improved my posture, flexibility and its toned me up alot! Just a thought https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif good luck
