I wish that people were not so ignorant. I’m sorry that this guy made you feel this way. No matter how he meant it, what matters is how it made you feel.
I spend so much time educating people that I am not a stripper and I do this for fitness. Regardless if it’s for fitness or if someone is a stripper, it requires so much strength, balance, practice…and the list goes on.
I personally hate sports and fitness but I suffer from fibromyalgia and this is my escape and helps me greatly deal with my pain. I am reluctant to tell my doctors about what I do so I say I’m doing “yoga.”
I wish there were no stigma around our amazing sport and that people would take the time to educate themselves before speaking. Personally, I just think he is a jerk. Keep poling and doing what you love. Do what makes you happy 🙂

I was absolutely terrified of shoulder mounting when I first started. My instructor started by teaching me the princess grip and we eventually moved to cup grip. I wasn’t afraid of anything bursting but I did have an irrational fear of it and I’m not sure why. I would only ever do one just as you mentioned. I kept with doing at least 1 per practice and that fear went away as I progressed to more challenging moves. I am now working on the aerial shoulder mount without using momentum and it’s like I am re living the whole thing again. I am sure it will go away as I continue to progress just like I did when it first started. Keep working on it 🙂

I am from Cape Breton and when I went home to visit family in the summer I barely survived without pole. Good luck, hope you find a place nearby!

Just wondering for those of you who have used or who currently have the silicone pole about the best ways to get down. On my chrome I was used to sliding down and hand standing out of almost all moves (and its not really an option with the silicone and its an extremely hard habit to break) Do you have any favourites?

My new pole is just as spinny as my old xpole 🙂

My new xpole had bigger screws compared to the model I had the year before. For me I like the larger screws so much better. I think there may have been a small difference in the grove when the pole A aND B go together, but that I’m not 100% sure on.

Kay Rae, I also got the pink silicone pole for Christmas! I used dry hands on my feet when I was training the starfish. Rubbing alcohol took it off no problem 🙂 I don’t know if we are really supposed to use it with the silicone but didnt seem to hurt it!

Veena, if you click the persons account…on my phone I see a menu button with three dots. The options are to block user or report.

Thanks Buttercup! Have you tried jeans? I don’t think they would work well but when I was looking at all of the Chinese pole stuff on IG, lots of people have jeans on? This seems tricky! All I can imagine is splitting the seam of every pair of pants I own!

Princess buttercup, or anyone who has used a silicone pole/sleeve – did you find certain clothes were most effective when using?
I have received my silicone xpole and love it so far. I never really used spin mode before so I have been doing some light training on spin but it is amazing when it comes to strength training and far less pole kisses! 🙂

In my area, I had my pole off centre in the room. It was ok until I started getting into more complex moves like extended butterfly. Once I got to that point, I removed my light fixture so that I could have more room. I had to buy a lamp for the room now but seems to be my best personal option. I am still limited on some moves but you start to learn the dimensions of your area area after a few mistakes 🙂

MemberDecember 3, 2014 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Twisted grip is the bane of my exsistance tips pleaseAlthough many on here are not into twisted grip, I do like it. However, I waited to learn it at my local studio. It is the last grip I have learned on my journey. If you are going to train it, I personally found it much easier to learn from an invert and pIke out – back in and out. And keep moving onto different moves. My shoulders are tight so I surprisingly found twisted to be quite comfortable. I am still working my way up to twisted handsprings etc. As Veena says, not all moves are right for everyone, so don’t push yourself if you are uncomfortable.

Fantastic! Thanks for the response. I just oordered my silicone pole 🙂 I’m super excited! I am sure I will want to change them out time to time.

Thanks! Anyone had any experience with a sleeve that would go over your current pole? I’m torn on if I should just get a sleeve or get the silicone xpole. I heard the sleeves are hard to get on/off with pressure mount xpole.

It took me a while to get the holds and it does take some conditioning as well. Since its winter where I live, I need to use men’s shaving cream to help me stick a little more right now, might be worth a try as well 🙂 good luck
