You're right, Lyme! I hadn't thought of inverted-related wardrobe malfunctions 🙂 I suppose you could see up them too, LOL. Maybe for my husband only 😉 This thread gives me a lot to think about–comfortable seams and avoiding unintentional flashing, haha!

Wow that posted huge! Anyways it seems to have that middle seam, does anyone else find it uncomfortable? So far I haven't tried seamed shorts on the pole…

Victoria's Secret just came out with these in various colors all with a cute side design. I looked in their catalog and thought of StudioVeena right away! And I almost burst out to the sales associate, "These would be perfect for poling!" but didn't because I work at a jewelry store in the same mall, and my boss would surely can me 🙂

I love this thread; we've got such strong women on StudioVeena! Looks like you've got tons of great advice already so I will just reiterate that you should do what you have to and be true to yourself, whatever that means to you 🙂

MemberAugust 7, 2012 at 6:33 pm in reply to: Is it a must to attend a pole studio to learn poling?@Youngs7, definitely attend the Friday chats! Not only are they so much fun, but some people run video and you can see them go up into different poses/tricks. Sometimes others will give pointers but there is always tons of positive feedback. In fact, in the short time I've been on this site, I've never seen any negative comments!
@Wild Lotus, I am working on getting an inexpensive X Pole to start poling on, too. I will save to get the lessons for my birthday in October 🙂 Glad to see I'm not the only one that is a poler-to-be! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

You're right! Thank you PlaysHard 🙂 Now I feel a little silly for missing that lol!

Legend, that is tough. I don't think LittleEngine was talking about misinterpreting correction but rather that her instructor was pushing too hard and made fun of her regarding her music. Add that to comments about her size and it was all too much together.

Kimber Rose and Jchampagne3, if that doesn't work out, I also live in MN and would love to take that off your (Kimber Rose's) hands 🙂

Poledanceromance is absolutely right. People just don't get how rude it is to comment on your body size for being thin. I've been accused of being anorexic, going to the bathroom after eating (apparently to puke), and I always get the comments on how I "need to eat." So natuarally when I look down at my belly and see some pouch from having a baby I think how bad I really look. For me it took getting a full size mirror to see that I do, in fact, look really great! Look at the bigger picture and when they make those comments, be blunt. Tell them "you're making me uncomfortable" or "it's not polite to talk about people's weight" and they will get annoyed, but at least it will stop and won't be an issue anymore. I've found out that sometimes just blurting is the best answer because they are totally missing that they're doing something insulting!
I think when people make those comments it just makes you focus on your imperfections more. As for your music, they don't get it and like poldanceromance said, that's their problem. You have to dance to their style of music and you try to, that says how great you are. Bet they couldn't dance to yours!

I didn't pole during my one pregnancy, but I started a personal fitness class in my sixth month of pregnancy that ran through the time I gave birth! I did some strength training and cardio and was stressed that I had gone and done that during pregnancy. To my surprise, my doctor said it was great I was getting that excercise and it really helped me balance out my sugars (I had a few hypoglycemic episodes, one where I fainted in the Mystic Lake Casino buffet, to my embarassment). It made me eat breakfast because it was a morning class, otherwise I would have just put off eating until lunch and it made me think about the types of food I was eating. The only recommendation I would have is don't do more than you usually would before you were pregnant, but it sounds like you are already being very careful. I don't recall what my separation was, but I didn't do much exersize after pregnancy and my abs are back to where they need to be 🙂

@Desirae, I think of figure skating as being close to poling, too. The pole spins remind me of skating spins like the back camel spin and Y-spin. The spiral sequences in figure skating look a lot like backsplits variation/stag. Now I can't wait until the Winter Olympics!! (Yep, I had to look up all the skating terms and pull up the pole dance dictionary online haha!)

I saw on youtube that you can try the NoNo for 2 months (and if you don't like it for any reason you can ship it back free and get a refund on what you paid. So I'm thinking of trying that and if it really works as well as they say, then I'll keep it. If not, my sister was also going to do a trial so we'd have 4 months total to see if it takes more time to work. Just an idea 😉
