Welcome! I second cali, it is definitely worth going over the beginner lessons even if they go over some moves you have already learned. Even more advanced polers have mentioned that since Veena's breakdown tends to be more thorough than other instructors there is still something to be learned. I am a rough beginner and could not get a pole sit w/o Veena's help even with pointers from others and watching copious amounts of YouTube videos. It made a huge difference for me. HTH! 🙂

Oh no, but definitely understandable. I hope "Veena Fridays" where all the Veeners are frequently online here throughout the day keeps going strong–it's nice to have so many polers in one virtual place around the same time. Thanks Veena & Webby for keeping the forums alive–seriously many days they are my lifeline!

Yup, USPS raised shipping prices. So did Fedex and UPS. USPS is actually running at a loss and has been for some time due to pricing and other issues; they are planning to eliminate Saturday shipping except for packages shipped at post offices among their measures to counteract this.
I read on Huffpost or somewhere that Congress does not allow them to charge cost on shipping so sometimes they are shipping at a loss (not 100% sure on this since I don't consider them a super reliable source). I sell on eBay so this has affected me a bit but not as much since I only ship within the U.S.

I grew up with my mom telling me not to hang out with black or Hispanic people and "don't DARE bring a black man home." The funny thing is my mother is Hispanic! There is definitely a lot of self-hate in minority groups–my partner's mom always told him to "better the race" by marrying someone whiter than him (they are also Hispanic).
It took me YEARS to get away from all the racism, sexism, and homophobia I grew up with. I look back now and I'm ashamed that I didn't want to be associated with certain people based on their skin color or other artificial reasons. I may as well have based my choices on height or hair cut for how valid that was.
Hate is destructive. It ruins your chance for so many things, like getting to be friends with amazing people. I forget what color my friends are because it really doesn't matter to me. At the same time, I love learning about different cultures because no one culture is more "advanced" than the other, there is something rich and wonderful to find in each one. I don't understand how people won't see that!
