I moved to Hawaii almost 2 years ago from Portland, OR.  It really hasnt been too bad for me as far as being away from family (they are mostly in the Salem, OR area), because I started doing that when I went to college in Indiana, then moved on to Wisconsin, south of Boston, back to Portland, ultimately on to Hawaii. Basically, skyping is awesome! 🙂 I would say that Hawaii is worth it.  Sometimes, it really does suck though, when you want to participate in something happening back on the mainland (ie., one of my best friend's Florida wedding).  It doesnt make living in Hawaii not worth it, BUT should definitely go into this expecting that.

Fit4aGoddess has only two studios on Oahu; in Pearl City (Ewa side/Pearl harbor-ish area) and in Honolulu.  I think they used to teach classes in Kailua at the Movement Center, but I do not know if they are still doing that.

If you are into other aerial (trapeze/tissu) there are classes for that in Honolulu as well.

Hehe… this is a great thread!

I have never been able to come up with a good performance name. Ever.  I dont know why.  I tried out Violette Skye, and its just not me. I have had lots of suggestions from people, including Poison (bc I love that band), Inertia (which I really disliked, but love that Massive Attack song), etc etc. There has always been something that makes it hard for me to adopt a name and  feel comfortable becoming that character.

A burlesque group that I perform with forced me into choosing a name, so I do aerial burlesque as Bijou Blanc, but I can't find myself in that name either.  But something had to go in the program. 🙂

My pet/road name would be Footloose Thomas…? yes. I had a cat that my siblings and myself named Footloose. Seeing it typed out makes me feel like a weirdo. bahaha.

sorry hit something there, Amuse Boucher by Fischerspooner and Boys Will Be Boys by GoldFrapp.

Ultimately, I get just as tired of my favorites, but it doesnt affect how i feel about other peoples' dances unless the song really irritates me.  At which point I mute and continue. 🙂

I totally agree on the youtube thing. I too, have rocked it to some zeppelin and had to swap the audio.  I think the song that I have danced the best to, was the Ridin' Solo by Jason Derulo. I dont listen to the radio or really Top 40 at all, but for whatever reason, that one resonated, and I actually danced that song.  A few songs I like that are sort of random:

    Mary Jane by Alanis Morrissette

Hang You From the Heavens by Dead Weather

    Amuse Boucher
