What a great thread! I like my proportions; the shoulders to hips ratio. Also, I love my long hair and small hands, fingers and feet…oh, and my toned back! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Ok here is the thing: when you warm-stretch your muscles are activated and the muscle will take the stretch. When you cold stretch, the connective tissue around the muscle stretches (it surrounds the muscles like a thin web). It's the connective tissue you want to stretch because a muscle can only get to be abt 40% "longer" than it's actual size so you're quite limited there.
A muscle answers well to harder, more of a pumping stretch while the connective tissue needs more time: you need to hold each position for at least 2 minutes without using too much force. We don't know the quality of our- quite fragile- connective tissue, and if you push too hard it can break, like a dry rubber band but after a while you'll feel how the body might open up for further movement into the stretch.
For all of you that are interested in cold stretching I strongly recommend yin yoga (www.yinyoga.com). I yin abt 2-3 times a week and all I can say is that 6 months ago I wasn't close to a split on either leg and now I oversplit on both!

Hi Jenny! I think you got it quite right! I just want to point out how important it was- at least for me- to have a really good grip with the inside "right" arm (the arm holding behind the thigh of the leg that's hanging on the pole). If that grip doesn't feel secure, you won't feel comfortable with arching your back. Good luck!

Love it!! Ken's face (well-one of them) is priceless! X)

That's so great, congratulations on that power-move, I think it looks amazing!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Good luck on learning the handsprings-you definitely got the strenght+ balance for them!

I think it depends on the model, just like Kat pole princess said! I have one pair which is true to size and one which runs a bit small! But I'd advice you to pick the size you normally have since it is possible to expand the shoe a little when you use them. Good luck:)

Thanks so much for your replys, girls! I'll definitly (try) to not practice the TG for a couple of days and see if it returns! It's so not worth being frustrating or ripping the pole out of the ceiling for (even if it felt like that yesterday) 😉
@polekitten87: Wow, 50x a night? You must have gotten super strong!
@polefanatic: Thanks!:D I didn't think I was either- after all I had been practicing it with the wrong grip since November! Let me clarify: in the vids I have the correct grip, but up until a week ago I placed my lower hand on the pole in a way that didn't allow me to push-therefore I couldn't handspring! 🙁 I realised that when trying the cradle hold for the first time! I'd say that when I am in the cradle, I feel as if my upper arm does most of the work, but the more "far away" you get from the pole (outwards & downwards, and especially when doing it from the ground) the lower arm takes on more of the weight.:S Good luck!

Hi again,
thanks to all your much helpful feedback and support! When I did the routine again, I tried to be more graceful (still using my heel to help me climb but I’m getting there…) as you suggested, I managed to aerial invert without using the sole of my foot and tried to hold my poses longer (thanks for advicing me to go with a slower song-that helped a lot!) and I did some extra dancing towards the end (completely improvised, as you can see lol).
Whatever happens now, I am proud of myself (and gonna try to not think about this any more until I know if I made it) and thankful for all your help! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7LGiB7qBUQ was the video I sent in btw, if anyone is interested…

Thank you all so much for taking the time to look at my vid! I am happy my passion for pole dancing shines through:) Whaat?! You don’t find my monkey feet sexy? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I know it’s not a good way to climb and I have been working on climbing pretty, but when I dance I seem to get a blackout and go back to my bad habit-but I promise you I’ll work on that!
I will definitely try to be more graceful and work on not looking so stressed out-but I find it hard to both do lots of cool tricks (to impress the judges lol) in only 2-3 minutes and making it look slow and effortless :s , but I will try to polish that in the days I have left!
No, they haven’t requested any specific moves, so that’s good I guess. It’s kind of hard to know on what elvel to keep it considering how mixed the skills were amongst last year’s kittens: one girl, I remember, only inverted once (a basic invert or smth) while another did full flags and handsprings https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
But once again thanks soo much, I’ll have your feedback in mind these ten days!

Yes it definitely will get better over time! When I first learnt the scorpio and the gemini I thought my inner thies would be blue forever, but now (after maybe 3 months of geminiing) I can even do the scorpio/gemini switch without feeling it!
…and my thies have gone back to normal, too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
Ok lovely ladies I just wanted to tell -and thank- you for recommending Tite Grip to me! I tried it for the first time today and I could just do trick after trick without wiping the pole down every 30 seconds! I started practicing on a routine I’ve been thinking about and suddenly the music stopped and I realized I had completed the whole 3,5 minute song without wiping the pole down even once https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif AND I did it like three or four times!
The only sad thing is that now I realize more than ever how bad my floorwork is (a refrigerator has more natural grace than me, it seems https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif ) but on the other hand- now I know what to work on https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
Thanks again https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

What a pedagogical description, EvaRuth!
I have a small trick that helped me get a good armpit-hold when learning this trick: at the same time as you get in front of the pole and you start squeezing your armpit, you should try to slide down a bit on the pole. This will really make your armpit stick (at least mine does) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Good luck! -
First of all: thanks so much for all the answers!!
I’ll definitely try the gloves like you suggested, Jen, and maybe I could "pimp" them so that they match the rest of the outfit or smth https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
Whoa the tite-grip sounds really interesting! It seems logical that a sweat-reducer would be a better alternative during a performance than a grip enhancer since you wanna be able to spin easily as well https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif They sell it on eBay so even I- a poor Swede-can get a hold of it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
