I was gonna suggest the same thing as E. Just make sure you try dropping into your scorpio slowly till you get the hang of it. I do it all the time and it does look pretty sweet when you can make dramatic drop…good luck to you!!!

One of my worst bang ups was when I was teaching a wrist to my class and while trying to come out of it my hand got caught and between my hand getting caught where the sun don’t shine and the pole it pinched my "naughty bits" area! The other was the first time I tried a superman spin and put a little too much force into and slammed my crotch into the pole…needless to say I laid on the floor in a ball for awhile https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif

My feeling on PS is this, if your going to do it then do it for you and no one else. Make sure you really do your homework and get a reputable surgeon of course but if you want it and can do it! My stomach has never looked the same since I had my daughter (who’s 8 now) and I’m not gonna lie I’d get a tummy tuck in a heart beat if I could afford it. It makes me uncomfortable and I always feel like I’m trying to disguise it somehow….especially when I’m with my boyfriend who has 6 pack abs! Good luck and I hope whatever you decide your happy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

LOL, oh my god that’s too funny. Yeah we have a naked house and I grew up in one. My family moved here from europe when my dad was a kid so I wasn’t raised with the whole "the body is dirty" idea. My daughter could care less…ok actually their are times when she still runs around the house naked! Me and my girlfriends talk about this all the time cause we’re so open with our kids and none of them have hang ups or walk around acting too big for their britches so I totally believe it’s ok. As far as the pole goes, I’m the after school mom and all the kids play on the pole and think nothing of it. They love it cause to them Angel’s mommy has a cool jungle gym toy in the living room https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Quite frankly I encourage Angel to play on it, it’s good exercise when she can’t play outside (she even taught herself a reverse grab yesterday and a scorpio last week).

I know your frustration. When I was a dancer all I wanted to do was this move but struggled over and over with it until by accident I got it! First, which leg are you kicking up with? It should be your inside leg and you shouldn’t be kicking just straight up but up and around to get you moving. Also remember to not just think of getting the hipsup and over but also dropping the upper body/head down so the lower body can come up and over more. Other than that watch your grip…too tight and you’ll just go up and down. Good luck and I hope this helps…even if it takes a little longer!!!

Try arching your back more and when squeezing your inner thighs think more about squeezing your butt cheeks together…sounds kinda weird but it’ll help you feel the hold you need to stick it! Good luck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

MemberAugust 9, 2009 at 9:16 pm in reply to: Glitter got told she’s too chubby to strip 🙁I read your post and wanted to cry for you and scream all at the same time! First of all, do not change your body for anyone but you. If you want to shed pounds then shed them for you but not because someone else tells you you should. The one problem I always had as a former dancer and still have is that many times theres a specific type of beauty that clubs supply but it’s not neccessarily what every guy in there wanted to see. When I first started dancing that dancer that kinda took me under her wing and taught me the ropes was a "thicker" girl and honest to god she made more money than any other girl in that bar! She could dance and had personality for days. It’s true that being thin gives you advantages in that industry and at least she wasn’t rude to you but if YOU are actually happy with you then stay the beautiful way you are. If not than makes the changes YOU want to make. As far as how to do that I’m right there with ya (I’m trying to drop 10-15lbs and workout all the time and eat healthy too). The best advice I can give on toning up and cutting down for your activity level is to add some new types of exercises to your repetoire. Your adjusts to activity very quickly which means if your already really active with pole and running and lifting try something different, something you’ve never tried before or don’t do very often. Good luck and try to stay positive, it’ll get better as long as you believe it will : )

Sweet, I just did a beginner’s pole routine for my website with a bunch of floor work in it! I’ve had an idea for a dance to Zepplin’s "Babe I’m gonna leave you" in my head all day so I think I’ll have to use it for this : )
