MemberJuly 15, 2012 at 8:25 pm in reply to: What your first pole was and how functional it was for you?I have a 45mm brass extreme pole from Platinum Stages. I love it. It spins and goes stationary. My only complaint is the plastic cover at the bottom because i chose to buy a multi piece. Wanted to have options because i know that i will not be in the house i live in for much longer.
I have found that most people prefer the 45mm and smaller… And finish really is personal preference. I live in a humid enviornment and i am sweaty- brass is my best friend some days. But the strong i become- i am falling in LOVE with the chrome xpoles at the studio. They are well broken in and when i am warm- they too are a joy to dance on. If and when i move and have more space- i plan to buy a second pole to put up and it will more than likely be a chrome x-pert 45 or 40mm -

Definitely the sit and spin (chair spin) My teacher has me do a sitting chair to an extended chair then bring my legs back up to a regular sitting chair as many time as possible until I cannot hold on anymore.. Which is usually only a few times for me… I should definitely do these more than I should https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif but it targets glutes, thighs, and lower ab like you want =)

I discovered pole at a very difficult time in my life. I went through three surgeries for a tumor about the size of a golf ball on my right vocal cord (not cancerous thank god)! I lost my voice for a year. I sounded like i had really bad laryngitis everyday. There was about 2 months out of that year that I literally had NO voice. My first dr never encountered my issue before so he performed a biopsy and referred me to a specialist. Went to that specialist and he performed surgery of basically using C02 to freeze off the tumor. Which did not solve the problem- all it did was scar the area. My third doctor who is the only larynologist in my state. He is in the top 5 in his field of the entire US. He performed my surgery and actually shelled out the tumor and gave me my voice back.
Enough of the rant- but pole does not require voice. We donot realize how precious and useful our voice is until its gone! Voice is a gift. Simple speech is a GIFT! When i took my first pole class I did not have my last operation yet. Expression without using your voice is what i needed at that time from being severly depressed from lack of socialization. -
I am a full time student currently out for the summer. I am one year away from acheiving my bachelors in social counseling. I plan to work with juveniles and youth of all kinds. I live in a city that offers great opportunities in this field.
I also work two jobs. I work at a drive-thru Daiquiri shop and do really well there with tips and shift pay. I use to work in a bar and decided the life style is not for me. My second job is working for a embroidery company. I run embroidery machines that sew logos and/or names onto clothing, hats, bags, etc. I just started back part time and have been working there on and off since 2007. They have their busy seasons especially in the summer time. I guess I can consider myself a seasonal worker there. Its hard work sometimes, but rewarding because I can get in a zone and work at my pace all day long. Its a happy medium working and talking to customers at the daiquiri shops and then keeping to myself at the embroidery company.

If pole comes in between your relationship- he is not worth it anyway. Do what you need to do to make sure YOU are happy. I learned this the hard way. Although some may say this sounds selfish- you have to put yourself first because no one else will. In terms of what satisfies and fullfills you- you are the only one that can make that happen 🙂
You deserve nothing less than the best -
