I wrote a paper on this argument a few semesters ago. But basically i agree with everything you just said. All these young girls are going to try to live up to an expectation of beauty that doesnt exsist without makeup and spray tans. An argument that I made- what about children who have a darker complextion? Light skin children have to have a tan to be considered beautiful. So no shade before or after a “bronze tan glow” is beautiful? Pale and dark is no longer beautiful? How does this help in our struggle for equality and peace among everyone?
I feel some of these mothers are insecure and are living through their daughters.
Not to stereo type by saying all paegants are bad because in some areas there are a lack of after school, productive programs for girls. I guess in some cases this is better than their daughters being confined and not receiving any attenion at all…

I did the survey, Cinara! Although the questions could be applied to multiple situations regarding 'is it normal to feel joint and muscle pain?'- I think that it is common to feel aches, just as long as its not inhibiting your daily life or duties…

I feel stiffness in my hips ALL the time and I am only 22. Even after foam rolling and stretching (which does help ease the tension, but it is still always stiff) However, it is a slight pain and stiffness and I am able to live with it.  On days that it is really bothering me I take Advil. I know its something that I can't really "fix" and its tolerable.  Some days I don't  even notice it…

It is mostly when I start to think and dwell into it more and more that I will notice the pain/stiffness more intensly by worry and stress by thinking it is something worse than it actually is.. I know this is not the case with everything and some aches and pains can indicate something more serious like an injury or illness.

I know I have not injured my hip. I know that I just have tightness in there and i know different ways to help relieve it- i know it is not a tumor or fracture or something like that.  Just know your body and be able to distinguish what is normal for you or not.  Try not to dwell into every ache and pain as it is something serious ( I am not saying you are or have.  I am saying this because mental health and pain were mentioned in this post )…

I have a friend who will run to the dr. over anything unusual and will think the worse.. Not judging anyone, so I hope this is not taken the wrong way.  I just know that if she would not stress and harp on different things that happen, it would help her not be so anxious and think the worse over things…

Don't know if my experience will help you… But sometimes if we can not stress and harp on things happening, we can manage things like this better. =)

we have both been wanting to go to Vegas for vacation and just to tour the city and it would have been awesome for all that to fall at the same time.. I may try and still go depending on finances. Won't really know until July… Last minute- but I would love to try and go for the Vegas experience

yep I have been to two classes with Laura at Crescent Lotus! She has class once a week. She is amazing. Super strong and has given me a lot of strengthening exercises.

I go to another studio called Body in Motion- they are good too. And I like variety =)

Thank you for looking out for me Chemmie =)

i first studio i ever went to (before i found my current one) was awful! The teachers were so unprofessional and were not advanced themselves. In my opinion, a teacher should be able to do majority of the moves in pole dancing- unless he or she is teaching a STRICTLY beginner class that does not even thinking about doing inverts.

The current studio I attend has very knowledge instructors and they put safety first.

There are many women here that do not have a studio near by and learn through Veenas lessons only.  Her lessons are very detailed. She tells you what muscles are being strengthened and refers you to the strength lessons to work on to be able to execute a particular move.  They are very thorough and safe.

I use lesson and go to a studio and can honestly say I like doing both.  There are spurts of times that I cannot afford to go to the studio and I focus on Veena's lessons.

Not a sap at all. Just very passionate about pole dance. You apperciate all forms and styles and this is a good thing because majority people have so freaking clue how hard it is. Making a song flow and incorporating dancing is a job in itself, and if it doesnt always come natural to you (like me, lol). And building the strength to do the tricks and not become discouraged and quit altogether is another key factor to be successful in the sport.

But then there are some (like the performers mentioned here and some veena members) it just comes natural and when we watch them it is like they were made to pole and the pole was made for them.
You put this post in all the right words. 😉

I love B12 shots. I have had them a few times everytime was when I had a cold and right when it was injected was a burst of feel good energy.  Great energy booster and I love how alert I was after.  But I do have a bottle of OTC B12 in my medicine cabinet and I was taking them regularly with fish oil- then I gave them a break for a while.  No reason at all other than being lazy with taking the pill everyday… =/
