Ok… First I want to say, and this is totally NOT bashing studio owner or instructors, but there is a current studio that I use to attend. It is a large studio with about 14 poles and they offer all drop in classes. The owner has always been worried about volume and quantity VS quality. I personally HATE drop in studios like this because I've had a very bad experience with the same problem with students instructing other students, AND I WASN'T EVEN THE TEACHER! The teacher was on the other side of the room talking to one student. I was in the middle of the room with beginners and intermediates, and there was a first timer. One girl was trying to teach the first timer how to do an elbow stand into a cross ankle release. I listened to her explain the move to the other girl without even knowing the terminology (this is another thing that DRIVES ME NUTS) The girl demonstrated an elbowstand first, but didn't do the cross ankle release. The first timer tried to kick up into an elbowstand, but was struggling. Thankfully she listened to her body, and stopped. The other girl went on again about it, and I chimed in and said, "That is a hard move, especially for someone's first time." The first timer was clearly struggling and felt uncomfortable. The other girl snapped at me and said, "NO It's not." And proceeded to do it again to show the first timer. Ironically, the girl ended up missing the pole and falling on her head… All I could do was laugh at her out loud and roll my eyes… I really couldn't help myself and I think pole should be instructed and taught progressively like Veena's method and elbow stand is not the first move you learn and I even said it in a nice way and was only trying to help…
You will probably always encounter this problem since its a different group every time and if the studio owner doesn't make this known as one of her policies. Maybe signs in the office/lobby will help and maybe if it stressed on the waiver and verbally when students first sign up?? Is the owner active on facebook with her business? Maybe she can stress this issue interactively as well, most people are bound to see it… But if the owner is not too worried about it, this will be a recurring issue… Sadly. And the owner of the one in my story, isn't worried about it… She sells herself short by constantly running cheap living social specials for volume.
Thankfully, there is a very knowledgeable, safe, STRONG poler from Ohio named Laura. Chemmie knows her 😉 She was off the grid with teaching for a while to improve her own skills. I plan to start going back to her once she has a set time for class again.

wow you are one flexy mama!
i dont have tips as i want to achieve this is well. you are much closer than i am. i am commenting to follow this thread 🙂 -
maybe im different but my man and i call each other many different names when we are in the mood and when we are playing around.. we both like it.
now if he were to call me a bitch or ho out in public there would be a serious problems then, but if its in the comfort of our own home and i hear his tone i always know if it was meant disrespectfully or not.
I know two wrongs dont make a right but usually if something disrepectful is said, that neither one of us likes, we always respond back to each other with the same reaction and for some reason we always end up with a tit for tat argument that leads to tickle fights.. ane i am usually the one thats held down and tortured while my feet are being tickled… its miserable, but all i can do is laugh and then i have all these endorphins running through me from laughing and trying to escape that we always forget what we were pissed off at in the first place…
then we move on with our day after. -
pole has affected and influenced EVERYTHING and all my relationships in my life. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Pole, aerial arts, and contortion on my mind 24/7

As a student, I have enjoyed learning about how studio owners run their spaces.
From watching Body and Pole in Ny, and Choreography House in LA, and random cities here and there, and hoping to one day visit these studios when i feel my trip their will be worth while.
I think Aerial/Pole conditioning classes are a must along with flexibility classes.
The studios in my area do not have certified or knowledgable instructors, so I have strictly a home poler.
I am not where i would like to be in my strength, but I definitely know the difference between the jade and gemini. So instructors should know the terminology like the back of their hand and know how to properly execute, explain in multiple ways, and spot the student.Crash mats, Crash Mats, Crash mats.
If you plan to keep a good client base, they will advance, and so should safety.Check of Rikki’s studio on facebook(she is a member here) she is very active on updating. With this technology age, people get a glimpse by looking you up on facebook. So if I were in your position I would spend sometime taking good pics of the studio space and update it frequently with schedules, specials, etc. Have fun with it and be creative. Engage with potential students online 🙂
Rikki’s studio is called Defiance Studios.
Search all kind of studios around the world, go to their sites and look at their schedules. Get a feel for what you like and dont like and make a list, if you have done this already, repeat 😉I am a studio stalker. I envy all the creative spaces around the world!
Congratulations and good luck!!

What a fun post! First, I want to say congratulations for entering your first competition!!
I dream of the day of performing. I dont want to compete, but I would love to perform in front a small crowd and do the whole works of dressing up with the big hair and makeup!
I really LOVE all of Amber Ray’s costumes, she is out of Australia. Which Im sure you have heard of her if you are active in the pole community on Facebook!I can attach the photo from my phone on this post. But go to Amber ray’s facebook (its not private) go to the “costumes I’ve made album”
One in particular that i dream of owning is a black lace two piece, she is in the Iron X pose while wearing this outfit! I thinks its so beautiful!!!
She is very talented!
Kelly Maglia also makes beautiful costumes, but i think she is on the pricey sideI dont how much time you have, but if you’re feeling crafty, browse around on the sale racks at your local mall and find ideas on youtube how to spruse it up and customize it to make it your own!
I LOVE Long flowy hair that can be wipped around in a performace, if thats your style!
Unfortunately, I have medium length THIN non-flowy hair so If I were ever to perform I would go for extensions and a sexy poofy ponytail like Lou Landers! Please tell me you are going to record your performance?? Because I love your past videos you’ve posted!
Good luck -
Poledanceromance- I dont think your advice requires an apology. I think you offered well supported knowledge to this issue that the poster asked for. I had to be extremely careful for the first 9 months with my belly button piercing. Neosporin made my infection worse, I didnt know any better at the time. I wish someone would have gave me your advice 7 years ago.
What cured my infection and healed my belly button was an entire summer of going to the beach and swimming in the salt water pools. -
unfortunately there is no way around this issue… any professional pole ALWAYS pays for itself. good luck.

obviously it has been a while since this post was started and has since ressurrected..
there are exceptions and grey areas in EVERY situation.
I think trust comes with maturity from both people in a relationship.
There are certain sexual acts that I would never participate in.. I dont consider going to a strip club to be on the scale of a sexual act (at least in my book) but for some people it is.. For those of you that refuse the strip club idea, have you ever enjoyed watching porn with your partner?? I view as the same thing its just in a strip club its live…
The girls want your money. They have other clients in the room, you wont always get boob action if its busy and if you arent throwing big bills.
Going to a strip club with your partner can be a really fun experience. It was nothing less than fun and exciting everytime my fiance and i went…
I consider this a cultural issue as well. Strip clubs are big where I live…
We know what to expect when we go, to spend at least 200$ after covers, drinks, and tips for the girls.
So i wouldnt consider myself to have a psychological issue either (im with you on that PlatinumAni)
in my case, its socially acceptable and i accept and personally enjoy it… so i certainly wouldnt mind if my man went with his friends for a bach party because ive experienced it and know what to expect… -
going shopping tomorrow for this! yay
