Whenever I wear heels my hands rest on the adjuster cover that spins whether it is on static or spin and is really troublesome. The bottom loader will eliminate this problem all together so I am really excited. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the adjuster cover to remain static or does it just spin no matter what?
The adjuster cover isn’t supposed to spin!! Call Xpole, they should be able to help you with that. Otherwise, just take the cover off.. you really don’t need it for anything, & you’ll have more usable pole area without it! Actually, if the cover is covering a part of your actual pole & not only the adjuster thingie that sticks out, I’d say take it off even if you DO fix the spinning problem.. it’s much better for your hands to be gripping the actual pole, instead of the cover anyway!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif

That’s exactly how i felt too when learning this- as if my leg muscles just didn’t know how to relax & move up the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif I too was able to get other more difficult moves quicker than this. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
I think one reason for this is that you’re now asking your body to do something it’s never done before (ie. rely mostly on arms while inverted!). Other moves, such as the straight edge, may come alot more quickly after you’ve gotten the aysha, for example, because your body has already learned to hold & balance itself without relying on your legs. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I don’t know how many times per session i practiced this.. i probably kept trying till i got annoyed or worn out, but not so worn out that i couldn’t do anything else. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I’d say focus on your arm positioning, making sure you find the most secure grip. The "magic finger" trick really helped me for this move (as well as for aysha & straight edge): On your bottom hand, let your pointer finger point straight down towards the floor, while the rest of your fingers are wrapped normally around the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
Are you using forearm or elbow grip? -
I totally know that feeling of "being stuck" with the same moves. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif I’d suggest that you don’t start off with the straight edge as your next move though. The aysha (straight edge split) is easier to balance for most people. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Can you caterpillar climb up the pole? If not, you should work on that first, since if you can’t climb, it probably means you’re not comfortable removing your legs from the pole yet, & the climb is the safest/easiest way to learn/gain the strength to do so.
So from my personal experience (& it think this is logical), here’s the order in which i think it’s best to proceed: Caterpillar, caterpillar climb, aysha, straight edge, & then brass monkey (unless you can invert directly into it).
If you can already caterpillar climb, then just disregard this & sorry it wasn’t much help!! good luck!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif -
Ok Veena.. no one updated me on that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif. 30 dollars! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif

I should remind you guys, its 30 dollars at the door for the studio. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif I’m gonna work on a santa costume today, I think.
It’s 30 dollars plus the 90 dollars that we owe Sissy, so divided by 19 of us it will be about an extra $5, making it $35 in total…
unless for some reason there was a misunderstanding & the 90$ was just a deposit that will be deducted from our total fees. But i highly doubt that. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Veena i can’t wait to see yours & everyone else’s costumes! I still don’t have one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

1) KILALA- i’m not really sure if anyone’s coming from VA, but you decide not to come, won’t you lose the $ you paid for your airplane ticket? And it would really suck if you do come all the way to VA & not come to the jam! I’m sure there will be a way to figure it out!
2) So it seems that A SPOT HAS OPENED UP for the jam (since Kilala is coming alone).. So if there’s anyone who wanted to come, but was late in seeing the thread, let us know so we can add you to the list!!
3) JC – I think maybe we all missed your last post about the Pole Pressure party.. i think most people have said they want to go to it after the jam.
4) 13 days left! (& i still don’t have a costume https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif ) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif

MemberDecember 6, 2009 at 4:39 pm in reply to: In need of a graceful exit from a Brass Monkeyhi joni, congrats on the move! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif I actually do 2 different exits from this move in my latest video. The first one is towards the beginning of the vid, & i think it’s the easiest. I grab the pole again with my hands & hook the foot of the hooked leg on the pole while i slowly slide down (hard to explain, you’d have to see it). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
The 2nd exit is at the end of the video, and is the one that Bendie describes.. i found this one a bit scary at first https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif (but you might not!). I don’t know if this would help, or if i do them as graceful as you would like, but here’s the link just in case you wanna see: http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2119"
Practice & control can make any exit graceful!
EDIT: i forgot.. you can also transition so that your back is to the pole, so you end in like a bow&arrow position- but i don’t have a vid of that. you can try it though! -
You know I’ll be there! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Punkgirl nice gemini, & angel yogini’s my favorite move ever that i can’t do yet, lol.
Can’t wait! so many cool events going on! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cat.gif -

Yeeeah. I’m going to go with abingdon. Now I just… have to either fool myself into thinking I can do seven hours of workshops, or start making some difficult choices.
Well i’m totally considering taking all 4.. i know it’s crazy but hey, i’m only there for a month , So i gotta do as much as i can- don’t wanna miss any opportunities! It’s also that i definitely want to take the first one as well as the last one, so i figured i might as well do the other 2 in between, otherwise i’ll be waiting for like 5 hours for the last workshop! But i’m assuming that the first 2 won’t wear me out, since they’re floorwork & spins (assuming, lol) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
If you or anyone else decides to do the same maybe we can carpool!*edit* ps.. there’s a one hour break after the first workshop, then the next 3 are back to back (from what i saw on the site’s time schedule)
