This used to happen to me too. And just like you, it didn’t start hurting me til after i had been inverting for at least a month or so.. and i also noticed it was more intense with the chopper. I remember Veena telling me that it was because i was using mostly my lats to invert, rather than my arm muscles & abs. So maybe you could try focusing on engaging those muscles more. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Another thing that really helped me with this, was that i started warming up my back really really well : lift your arms straight up over your shoulders (keeping knees slightly bent & pelvis tilted front) and then pull them straight down behind your ears- as if you’re trying to pull down elastic bands attached to the ceiling (for resistance). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Also make sure to stretch your back. I found that the one where you’re sitting down, legs straight ahead, & cross one leg over the other & then twist torso to the other side while pushing elbow against the crossed leg really pinpoints that spot of the back. Hope this helps, and hope you feel better! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif

    My sweet Gina,
I feel honored & blessed to have had the chance to get to know you while you were here. You have taught me so many things without even knowing it.. Because that’s the type of person you were- spreading goodness & love was in your nature, so you weren’t even aware of it. You didn’t even have to try, and you didn’t expect anything in return. You were so genuine, original, funny, and just full of love for everyone. And everyone here who knew you adored you. For me, you were such an important part of studioveena, one of the members who i believe helped to set the beautiful character of this site. So even if you’re not physically here anymore, your memory, your love, & your contributions will be here with us FOREVER.

You & I celebrated our one-year anniversary as members on SV together, and i will continue to celebrate every single anniversary that’s to come WITH YOU. ( https://www.studioveena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1620 )

To ease my pain of missing you, i think of something that a wise person once told me: "in the end, it does not matter how many years you live; what is important is how many lives you touch".. and i know that you must have touched the lives of virtually all the people in your life in the sweetest way. You were an angel while you were here, and you continue to be an angel now, the sweetest angel there is. I love you forever sweet Caramel.

oh my god.. i seriously can’t believe it/ i remember her saying she hadn’t poled in a very long time because of her stomach pain, and that she couldn’t get a clear diagnosis on what it was. i’m so shocked and sad right now..
I don’t think it’s a mistake, she’s also disappeared from my facebook friends.
She was such a beautiful person. i’m so sad, i know she was suffering & in alot of pain, i just hope she is peaceful now. We’ll miss her sooo much, she was such a unique, genuine person. ok i’m gonna stop now .. i have to much too say & i’m just too shocked to express it right now. can we start something like a tribute thread for her?

I’m flying to buffalo NY friday dec 18th for my sister wedding on the 19th. I probably stay in buffalo straight through xmas. That’s where my whole family is. I’m a Baltimore transplant! I’ll miss u guys!! Is Veena coming too? I didn’t see the original post about having a DC pole jam. What thread is it in?

Hey angel- there’s no original post about the date on this.. the whole thing started when i decided to go visit my family in maryland for christmas, and so i planned to meet up with Jungle Cat at his house for a pole jam, the 2 of us. About a few weeks later, i met Sissy (on here) so planned to meet with her too. Then others started saying that they’d come too, & before you know it, it turned into a big pole jam! And since i knew i was coming around the 15th, we agreed to meet the weekend after i was to get there- around the 18th. All this just kinda happened during casual talk in chat, so there’s no thread on it- i really didn’t expect that so many people would be interested, otherwise i would’ve looked into it more!
I"ll be there for at least a month, and i KNOW it won’t be the same if veena & some others won’t be there, but we can still arrange for those of us who live in the area to meet up during that time.. i personally would LOVE to meet you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif .
The whole thing isn’t even definite yet. But i really do hope that it works out in the time that i am there, because i have NEVER met another person who pole dances, let alone get to be with a whole bunch of them together.. and this may actually be my one and only opportunity to ever experience something like this before i have to return to my country!

Hey guys- i booked my ticket today for the 15th! angel that really sucks if you can’t make it.. i don’t think we’re 100% sure what’s going on yet with the studio or with the dates though. JC said Jessalyn is checking for availability for the weekend of the 18th.. but there are some back up studios too.

This is the date we originally said, but if this date doesn’t work for some people, maybe we could do it right after the holidays? We’d also have to ask Veena though, since it’s also supposed to be a christmas pole party.

I don’t do my corkscrew like that either (like in that video). I do like like redke, with the inside arm lower, and the outside arm on top- same position as if you were to do basic invert. The tutorial video shows the arms in opposite position & i found that to hurt my upper arm as well as my wrist!

Instead of dropping your legs to the floor (which requires alot of ab strength & control to look graceful), try bringing your free leg to the pole, so that you end up in inverted crucifix.

–Or– you can swing your free leg around the pole into flatline scorpio. This is a bit harder though. If you can’t do flatline scorpio, then you can just get into regular scorpio the same way, (by bringing free leg around the pole, hooking at knee, and releasing the other leg). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
I hope this helps a little, i know my description wasn’t too detailed.. let me know if you didn’t understand https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_monkey.gif

September 22, 2009 at 2:58 pm in reply to: Pole dancing shorts. Help. Need your opinion 😀

First of all, congratulations on your new view on life & positive attitude- it’s very motivating & inspiring, and i really do believe that you will succeed. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

As for the pole shorts- i prefer all 3 types, because it depends on my mood & and who i’m dancing for. The only thing that i dont like wearing are skin-tight shorts, like spandex.. i find them very unflattering. Something like a really short jersey-type shorts seem the most appealing to me. And like someone else said, i too ALWAYS have to roll the top at least 2 times on every shorts that i own.. so yeah, low riders would be really nice!!

For the beach, i’d probably wear moderate – minimum.

Good luck with your business!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
