This is one of those moves that i could never do, and then it just clicked one day out of the blue. I’m not really sure what it was that caused me to suddenly get it, but i think it may have been getting into a very good-formed scorpio, with a big arch in my back before sliding down into a handstand and releasing my leg from the pole.
This form caused the pole to be further behind my shoulder, allowing me to have more support for keeping my balance, and for keeping my arms straight.I don’t know if there’s more to this move that i haven’t noticed myself doing, but i hope this is helpful! good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

you may be a pole dancer if.. you can’t have fun anymore when you go out to a club, because with every song that plays, you just stand there like a retard fantasizing about how you would pole dance to it, while everyone’s asking you what’s wrong.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif
(*yes i just got home from a club*)

Sitting on the pole definitely hurts at first! Rouge had made a nice post about excersises to help your skin get resistant to the pole burn.. maybe someone else knows where to find it. When you say "invert from a sitting position", i’m assuming you’re talking about the cross-knee release, where you don’t actually invert, but you release your upper body from the pole, allowing yourself to lay back till your upside down https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_king.gif
– I’m not sure if having bigger legs affects how much you will hurt at first, but most of us do hurt when learning this move, since the skin is pulled while doing this.. fortunately, with practice the pain goes away!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif -
hi welcome to this awesome site & to pole dancing! i don’t take classes (there arent any in my area), but from what i know most pole-studios are very supportive of all women. The only advice i can give you is to keep in mind that most women who will be attending class for the first time probably are just as scared as you, and that’s natural whenever we attempt something new! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif I also think it’s really important to move at your own pace, not worry about what everyone else is doing, & just have fun with it- worrying about what you can or cant do yet will just kill the pleasure out of the learning experience… I’m sure you’ll love it as much as the rest of us here!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif ps. let us know how your 1st class goes & what you thought of it!!

i have my belly button pierced, and when i first got my pole (x-pole chrome), it started to chip and flake right where the two main pieces connect. This happened shortly after i began to invert. I don’t know if it was the belly button ring that caused it- But the spot where the pole started chipping, is around where my stomach is when i am in the basic inverted position. I am especially suspicious of the caterpillar move having caused the damage. X-pole sent me the new piece that i needed for replacement (for free), but ever since i don’t risk it, so i take my ring out before every practice.
You won’t be able to be taking your ring out for a while after you get it.. but if you’re just doing only spins for now maybe it’s ok, but i’d suggest for inverts it’s better not to have it on, just in case!!
But i can’t tell you for sure, this was just my experience- my pole may have been defective to begin with- but i personally wouldn’t risk it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif -
Awww foxy, what a sucky situation!!! i feels ya about the long hours, i remember working 50-60 hour weeks while in college, & had to attend classes & write papers & study on top of it too. At least i didn’t have a kid though, and i think that’s the hardest part in your case.. going days without seeing her must really be tough.
I really hope the 2 new people stay & are able to help out! Stay strong & you’ll get through this one way or another! and it’s ok to cry, you’ll feel a bit better afterwards! Sending lots of hugs.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -

Thanks so much charley! You’re right- not being committed to the move may be holding me back too & i’ve never really focused on keeping my head low. I’ve never done the EB from CM, since i mostly practice the CM on the opposite side from which i do an EB from on the pole (i can’t do it on my other side yet). And i can’t get into it from the other side of CM either, since i can’t lift up high enough on that side, LOL.
So i’m just going to practice it more from BOTH sides, using your tips & aim for an EB from it first, and see what happens with time.. Thanks again for the advice, and i do feel better!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

I have a related problem & really need advice! I can do a split grip aysha, but not the cartwheel. Here’s what i suspect my problem is.. When i do the SGA (and other inverted poses), i’m way more comfortable using my dominant hand on the bottom, and can only do some of them that way. However, for the cartwheel mount, i find it waaay more comfortable practicing it with my dom hand on TOP (probably cause that’s the side i’ve always done a cartwheel on the floor).
So could it be that my sub hand isn’t strong enough to be the bottom hand, or that my body just isn’t used to my arms holding me up with the opposite grip? Do you all use the same arm on bottom for the CM as you do for other inverted poses like the SGA?
Maybe i should practice my other side more so that my dom arm ends up on the bottom- but i’m just so much closer on my other side! Any thoughts on this would be great! -
wow Gsylass! that’s sooo awesome! good for you i’m sooo jealous for the cartwheel mount!!!
