OMG how the he** did i miss this thread?! great job trena! and nooo, we’re not fed up of you bragging, i (at least) love hearing about others’ accomplishments! it makes sense what everyone else said about being able to do some moves only with others, although that’s never happened to me, as i’m always alone- lol. But lots of times i can do some moves no problem, and then i can’t do them the next time.

awww veena that’s exactly why we all love you and this site so much.. you ARE a professional, but you’re also REAL and genuine at the same time! and your attitude sets the "prototype" for the members as well as the atmosphere of the site itself! so congrats for creating a site that is exactly what you say it is- "a supportive community for pole dancers", and anyone who feels like the outsider in other parts of their lives can feel right at home here! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_elephant.gif Lol i’m feeling a bit emotional today too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_albino.gif

OMG what a loser! fleur is right in everything she said. i’m a psycholgist, so take it from me too: this guy has SERIOUS psychological/emotional disturbances, self-worh issues, and resentment towards beautiful women, one reason being THAT HE CAN’T GET ANY!!! And instead of seeking help for his problems, he deals with them the only way he knows how: judging and criticizing what it is that he knows he’s not worthy of having.
My scenario about his probable life: he was the fat ugly geeky boy in school (not that there’s anything wrong with that), who was made fun of and bullied, in high-school all the girls ignored him or teased him, and one of his parents/guardians (most likely his father) was at least psychologically/verbally abusive, thus leading him to feel like an unworthy pathetic creature. His job sucks, if he even has a job, and due to his narcisistic personality traits he doesn’t have any real friends and always feels like the victim. His only "enjoyment" in life is putting down others, as was always done to him, and of course over the internet where he can conveniently hide behind his computer!!!
In this way, by putting down the people who he truly admires, he feels like he is getting revenge to all those people that hurt him in his life.
Sad, i know, and of course i don’t know this guy or if his life was really like that, but i bet it was along those lines.ONE FINAL NOTE: THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT EVERYONE WHO GREW UP LIKE THAT BECOMES THIS WAY – so please, i don’t mean to offend anyone who didn’t have a perfect childhood- (my life was far from perfect too).. i’m just trying to make a point. Everyone’s coping mechanisms are different, and this guy just happens to have really bad ones, in combination with bad character.

i was afraid of this spin at first too. the best advice i got for this was from veena, who told me to keep my arm pretty low, at about waist level. i started off in small movements, like doing the spin very slowly, barely spinning at all. that got me feeling abit more confident, and then i just went for it all out- if you can already do a normal superman pose securely, than just think that the worst that can happen is to slide/fall from waist-level height.. really not that bad! and if it burns your thighs you can always just release them and drop feet down while still holding on with your hand.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

don’t be so hard on yourself- you’ve only had the pole 1 day! the other day i was giving a friend her first lesson, and the fireman spin was very difficult for her for the same reason.. she wouldn’t even try the pole sit. like fleur said, pole fear is very common in the beginning. once you start getting a couple spins, then they all begin to get easier to accomplish, as you’re getting more confident (mind over matter, as mrstrone said)and building more arm strength. just remember to try to keep your shoulders back and down and rely more on your arms (i still forget to do that sometimes). keep us posted!! xx

I don’t know if this is what fleur meant, but if you want your dom hand on top, try inverting from your other side. However, for me it’s much more difficult to flip into superman when i’m inverted on my wrong side. So another thing you can do is to practice being in the superman position with your weaker arm, but getting into it from the floor so that you won’t fall. This way, your weak arm will gain the strength to hold you, and then you can get into it by inverting on your ‘right’ side. Like fleur said though, it’s best to practice everything on both sides! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

hi hollydee and welcome to the site!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif
i normally would have recommended getting an x-pole due to the company’s excellent customer service, and the fact that it’s great quality, but from what i know they can’t be used on suspended ceilings https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Other than that, your lil bat cave sounds like an awesome place for a pole room, so if you definately want it there, just be really sure that the pole you get can be Safely used on that type of ceiling! xx https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif -
I think fleur gave the best advice for this! you could also try practicing new transitions and floor moves.. they’re just as important (both fitness and performance-wise), and you can never have too many of them! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
